Comparative effectiveness of statins on non-high density lipoprotein cholesterol in people with diabetes and at risk of cardiovascular disease: systematic review and network meta-analysis

Alexander Hodkinson et al.

Summary: This network meta-analysis compared the efficacy of different intensities of statin treatments in reducing non-high density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C) levels in people with diabetes. The results showed that high-dose rosuvastatin, simvastatin, and atorvastatin, as well as moderate-dose rosuvastatin, were most effective at reducing non-HDL-C levels. These findings are important for guiding the selection of statin types and intensities for patients with diabetes.

Tenofovir-disoproxil-fumarate modulates lipid metabolism via hepatic CD36/PPAR-alpha activation in hepatitis B virus infection

Kazuharu Suzuki et al.

Summary: This study found that tenofovir-disoproxil-fumarate treatment in chronic HBV patients can lower serum cholesterol levels, including non-HDL and oxidized-LDL, which are strongly associated with arteriosclerosis. In vitro experiments revealed that tenofovir-disoproxil-fumarate can reduce supernatant cholesterol and affect lipid metabolism by upregulating hepatic CD36 in hepatocytes. Furthermore, PPAR-alpha signaling pathway mediates the effects of tenofovir-disoproxil-fumarate on lipid metabolism.

Cumulative burden of lipid profiles predict future incidence of ischaemic stroke and residual risk

Liye Dai et al.

Summary: The study found a correlation between cumulative burden of lipid profiles, except for HDL-C, and the risk of incident IS. Cumulative burden of TC, TG and non-HDL-C may still predict IS in patients with low cumulative LDL-C burden.
