Tie2-Cre-Induced Inactivation of Non-Nuclear Estrogen Receptor-a Signaling Abrogates Estrogen Protection Against Vascular Injury

Pang -Yen Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, the first mouse model with inactivated estrogen receptor-alpha non-nuclear signaling in endothelial cells was generated using the Cre-loxP system. The impaired protective effect of estrogen against mechanical vascular injury in this model indicates the pivotal role of endothelial estrogen receptor-alpha non-nuclear signaling in the vasculoprotective effects of estrogen.

A Novel Mouse Model to Analyze Non-Genomic ERα Physiological Actions

Yukitomo Arao et al.

Summary: This article describes a novel mouse model, H2NES knock-in (KI), for analyzing the actions of nongenomic ERα. The H2NESKI mice exhibit almost identical phenotypes to ERα null mice, except for vascular activity on reendothelialization. This mouse model can aid in understanding the nongenomic physiological responses mediated by ERα.

G Protein-Coupled Estrogen Receptor 30 Reduces Transverse Aortic Constriction-Induced Myocardial Fibrosis in Aged Female Mice by Inhibiting the ERK1/2-MMP-9 Signaling Pathway

Xiaowu Wang et al.

Summary: The incidence of cardiovascular diseases increases in postmenopausal women, and the protective role of estrogen in the cardiovascular system has been studied for decades. This research focuses on the protective effects of GPR30 in cardiovascular diseases, particularly in relation to ERK1/2-mediated MMP-9 signaling and cardiac hypertrophy.

Estetrol: A New Choice for Contraception

Franca Fruzzetti et al.

Summary: Estetrol (E4) is a natural estrogenic steroid produced by the human fetal liver, which has shown potential as a selective estrogen receptor modulator. Combination oral contraceptives containing E4 and drospirenone (DRSP) have demonstrated high acceptability and tolerability compared to those containing ethinylestradiol (EE). Further large-scale studies are needed to evaluate the cardiovascular safety profile and user satisfaction of E4/DRSP.
