Radiation and convection heat transfer optimization with MHD analysis of a hybrid nanofluid within a wavy porous enclosure

Kh. Hosseinzadeh et al.

Summary: This study aimed to maximize thermal performance by simulating a curved porous star-shaped enclosure with a rounded cavity. The temperature difference between the inner cavity and outer surface stirred the heat flux. By investigating factors such as porosity, radiation intensity, magnetic field, and natural convection, optimal values were determined.

Combined effects of using multiple porous cylinders and inclined magnetic field on the performance of hybrid nanoliquid forced convection

Fatih Selimefendigil et al.

Summary: The effects of combined utilization of inclined magnetic field and multiple porous cylinders on forced convection in a vented cavity are numerically assessed. The study investigates the effects of Reynolds number, magnetic field strength, inclination of magnetic field, permeability of porous cylinders, and size of the cylinders on fluid flow convective heat transfer performance. It is found that the presence and permeability of the cylinders can be used to control heat transfer, and the magnetic field has a significant contribution to suppressing vortices in the cavity. The size of the porous cylinders generally contributes positively to overall thermal performance, and significant variations in average heat transfer are observed for different parameter combinations.

Numerical study of free convection in a thin layer between coaxial horizontal cylinders

Alexander Fedotov et al.

Summary: This study examines free convection in 2D and 3D horizontal cylindrical layers with inner hot and outer cold boundaries. The results show that the flow in the 2D cylindrical layer can be divided into three regions, while the flow in the 3D cylindrical layer is organized into a spatially stable convective roll pattern. The Nusselt number is proportional to the Rayleigh number in both cases, but the 2D problem provides a reasonable estimation only up to a certain Rayleigh number.

Investigation of the free convection of nanofluid flow in a wavy porous enclosure subjected to a magnetic field using the Galerkin finite element method

Aissa Abderrahmane et al.

Summary: This paper presents a numerical simulation of natural convection and fluid flow in a three-dimensional wavy cubical enclosure with a magnetic field along the z-axis. The focus is on discussing entropy generation inside the wavy porous cavity using Brinkman's extended non-Darcy flow model. The results indicate that streamlines and isotherms increase with higher Darcy and Rayleigh numbers, and entropy generation is sensitive to various parameters. Moreover, the variation of the Nusselt number is influenced by the Rayleigh number and Darcy number.

Double-diffusive magneto-natural convection of nanofluid in an enclosure equipped with a wavy porous cylinder in the local thermal non-equilibrium situation

Tahar Tayebi et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the numerical analysis of magneto-natural convection induced by double-diffusion of a nanofluid using the finite volume method. A wavy porous cylinder in a enclosure is considered, where the local thermal non-equilibrium (LTNE) is modeled by the Darcy-Brinkman-Forchheimer design. Controlling variables such as Rayleigh number (Ra), Lewis number (Le), Hartman number (Ha), buoyancy ratio parameter (N), Darcy number (Da), and medium's porosity (epsilon) are evaluated, showing that heat and mass transfers can be improved with certain augmentations and diminutions of these variables.

Estimation of comprehensive thermal performance for conjugate natural convection inside a dome-shaped porous chamber holding a solid cylinder

Sakib Javed et al.

Summary: The study investigates flow patterns and heat transfer control in a dome-shaped permeable chamber enclosing a heat-conducting solid cylinder. The application of this study is relevant to various heat transfer equipment. Numerical simulations were conducted using the finite element technique, solving the Navier-Stokes and thermal energy equations under realistic conditions. The results show the superior heat transfer performance within the chamber under optimal conditions, influenced by the shape of the dome and the selection of the Rayleigh number.

LBM study of natural convection heat transfer from a porous cylinder in an enclosure

B. Shruti et al.

Summary: This study investigates natural convection heat transfer from a porous cylinder placed at various positions in a square, cooled enclosure with air as the working fluid. Through numerical analysis, it is determined that the amount of heat transported from the heated porous cylinder is influenced by the Rayleigh number, Darcy number, and the cylinder's location. The results show that convective effects are more noticeable when the cylinder is positioned towards the enclosure's bottom wall.

Summary: Soret number has a mild impact on heat transfer rate, while increasing Dufour number can boost heat transfer rate. Higher Soret numbers increase entropy generation, while stronger Dufour effects reduce entropy generation induced by fluid friction, heat, and moisture transfer.
