Numerical investigation of magneto-thermal-convection impact on phase change phenomenon of Nano-PCM within a hexagonal shaped thermal energy storage

Mohsen Izadi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the melting process of paraffin enhanced with metallic alumina nanoparticles inside a hexagonal heat storage unit in the presence of a uniform magnetic field. The results show that the Lorentz force can suppress the charging level of the thermal energy storage system, while the magnetic field inclination angle can control the energy transport and melting motion. Furthermore, increasing the nanoparticle concentration reduces the melting process.

Numerical simulation and optimization with artificial neural network of two-phase nanofluid flow in a circular heatsink with cylindrical pin-fins

Chaoping Zhu et al.

Summary: This paper presents the design and simulation of a novel circular heatsink with cylindrical pin-fins. The effects of variables such as pin-fins length, distance between pin-fins, and pin-fins diameter on the maximum and average temperature of the heatsink are investigated. The results are further optimized using machine learning and artificial intelligence to achieve the minimum heatsink temperature. The flow of nanofluid is simulated using a two-phase model and the finite element method. Increasing the length of pin-fins from 5 to 20 mm decreases the average temperature by 11.42 K. Increasing the diameter of pin-fins from 1 to 4 mm reduces the average temperature of the heatsink by 5.98 K.

Effects of L-shaped fins on cooling an electronic heat sink fitted under magnetic field of CNT-water/ethylene glycol nanoliquid

Mohamed Dhia Massoudi et al.

Summary: This study numerically investigates the efficiency of using CNT-water/ethylene glycol nanofluid in an inclined square box heat dissipator with L-shaped fins, taking into account the impact of Lorentz powers and the radiative effect of the nanoliquid. The results show that increasing the Rayleigh number and the radiative element enhances the convection cooling rate. The Lorentz forces slow down the convection cooling rate, but this effect is mitigated when radiative emission is maintained. In addition, increasing the length and width of the L-shaped fins significantly improves the convection cooling efficiency.

A three-dimensional thermal management study for cooling a square Light Edding Diode

Mohamed Bechir Ben Hamida et al.

Summary: This study uses a three-dimensional, time-dependent code to simulate the thermal management of square LED lamps and finds that drilling holes in the heat sink can reduce the junction temperature of the LED lamp. The role of the convection heat transfer coefficient is crucial in ensuring good heat dissipation and cooling of the lamp by increasing the internal exchange surface.

Investigation of heated fins geometries on the heat transfer of a channel filled by hybrid nanofluids under the electric field

Mohamed Bechir Ben Hamida et al.

Summary: The study utilized GFEM to model heat transfer in a channel filled with hybrid nanofluids under the electric field, finding that TiO2-Al2O3 hybrid nanofluids exhibited the highest Nusselt number. Increasing nanoparticle concentration and supply voltage can both enhance heat transfer efficiency in the channel.
