CYP1B1-derived epoxides modulate the TRPA1 channel in chronic pain

Lili Sun et al.

Summary: Pain can be debilitating and current treatments have limitations. This study identified a potential target for pain relief - the TRP ion channels. By studying a chronic pain model, the researchers discovered a correlation between the increase in Cyp1b1 mRNA and the presence of specific lipid molecules, which selectively activated TRPA1 and induced pain hypersensitivity. Manipulating the CYP1B1-oxylipin-TRPA1 axis may have therapeutic potential.

Emerging Insights into the Impact of Air Pollution on Immune-Mediated Asthma Pathogenesis

J. A. Tuazon et al.

Summary: This review highlights the connection between air pollutants and the development and exacerbation of allergic asthma. While traditional research has focused on the role of T(H)2 cells, recent studies have revealed the importance of non-T(H)2 immune mechanisms, including PRRs, ILCs, and non-T(H)2 T cell subsets, in air pollution-induced asthma.

Absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of apigenin and its glycosides in healthy male adults

Gina Borges et al.

Summary: The bioavailability of apigenin and its O-glycosides in humans was investigated. Different metabolites were identified in urine samples after intake of apigenin compounds. The absorption of apigenin depended on the type of glycoside and gastrointestinal tract location. The study provided valuable information on the excretion of apigenin metabolites and intra-individual variations.

The influence of urban exposures and residence on childhood asthma

Torie L. Grant et al.

Summary: Children with asthma living in urban neighborhoods suffer from a higher burden of asthma due to various urban exposures and social determinants of health. While environmental interventions can help reduce asthma morbidity, population and community-level changes are also crucial for addressing the asthma burden in urban children.

Cellpose 2.0: how to train your own model

Marius Pachitariu et al.

Summary: This study introduces Cellpose 2.0, a software package that includes diverse pretrained models and a human-in-the-loop pipeline for rapid customization of models. The results show that models pretrained on the Cellpose dataset can be fine-tuned with fewer user annotations and still achieve high-quality segmentations.

Cellpose: a generalist algorithm for cellular segmentation

Carsen Stringer et al.

Summary: Cellpose is a generalist, deep learning-based segmentation method that can precisely segment cells from various types of images without requiring retraining or parameter adjustments. It was trained on a highly diverse image dataset and supports a three-dimensional extension. Software has been developed to support community contributions to the training data.

The Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor Attenuates Acute Cigarette Smoke-Induced Airway Neutrophilia Independent of the Dioxin Response Element

Angela Rico de Souza et al.

Summary: Research suggests that inhibiting AhR will enhance cigarette smoke-induced pulmonary neutrophilia, but the mechanism of AhR's anti-inflammatory function remains unclear. Through the use of AhR antagonists and genetically modified mice, the study shows that features such as nuclear translocation and binding of response elements are not necessary for AhR to suppress pulmonary neutrophilia.

Does Oral Apigenin Have Real Potential for a Therapeutic Effect in the Context of Human Gastrointestinal and Other Cancers?

Eva F. DeRango-Adem et al.

Summary: Apigenin is a plant flavone that may have beneficial interactions with chemotherapeutic drugs and could potentially reach target blood levels when taken orally in semi-purified form. Further studies are needed to fully evaluate its clinical potential, particularly in gastrointestinal disorders such as colorectal cancer.

Summary: Skeletal muscle has the ability to regenerate, but declines in strength and function with age and disease. By utilizing the deep learning algorithm Cellpose, researchers have successfully automated the segmentation of myofibers in murine skeletal muscle, allowing for fast, unbiased quantification of myofibers under different staining and fixation conditions.
