Schrodinger equation in a general curved spacetime geometry

Qasem Exirifard et al.

Summary: This paper examines relativistic quantum field theory in the presence of an external electric potential in a general curved spacetime geometry, calculating the leading correction due to spacetime curvature to the Schrodinger equation. The nonvanishing probability of excitation for a hydrogen atom in or scattered by a general Schwarzschild black hole is then computed, with the emitted photon from the excited state extracting energy from the black hole, increasing its decay rate, and contributing to the information paradox.

Geodesic geometry of 2+1-D Dirac materials subject to artificial, quenched gravitational singularities

Seth M. Davis et al.

Summary: The spatial modulation of the Fermi velocity for gapless Dirac electrons in quantum materials is mathematically equivalent to the problem of massless fermions on a certain class of curved spacetime manifolds. Null geodesic lensing through these manifolds, which are dominated by curvature singularities, such as nematic singularity walls, is studied. It is found that null geodesics lens across these walls by perfectly collimating to a local transit angle, and nematic walls can trap null geodesics into stable or metastable orbits characterized by repeated transits.

Atomic structural and electronic bandstructure calculations for borophene

Clifford M. Krowne et al.

Summary: By utilizing hybrid functionals in ab initio quantum calculations, this study has improved the accuracy of density of states (DOS) and electronic bandstructure diagrams for various allotropes of borophene. The results indicate different behaviors in k-space, providing valuable information for electronic applications of 2D single atomic layer borophene in modern nanoscopic devices.

Towards communication in a curved spacetime geometry

Qasem Exirifard et al.

Summary: This study explores how the curvature of spacetime geometry affects the propagation of information carriers and emphasizes the significance of gravitational distortion on Earth-to-satellite communication. It highlights the need to pre- or post-correct this distortion at the sender or receiver to retrieve the information.

Circuit realization of a tilted Dirac cone: Platform for fabrication of curved spacetime geometry on a chip

Ahmad Motavassal et al.

Summary: The study introduces an LC circuit model that can support a tilted Dirac cone in its spectrum, with parameters that can be measured to obtain information about the spacetime metric. Nonuniform spatial dependence of the parameters induces a nontrivial geometrical structure on the emergent spacetime, extending the usefulness of circuit models to emulate nontrivial spacetime structures.
