A standard convention for particle-level Monte Carlo event-variation weights

Enrico Bothmann et al.

Summary: Streams of event weights are a useful method in particle-level Monte Carlo event generators for expressing systematic uncertainties. However, the lack of a common standard for labeling these variation streams has been a major limitation for event-processing tools and analyzers.

Implementation of the CMS-SUS-19-006 analysis in the MADANALYSIS 5 framework (supersymmetry with large hadronic activity and missing transverse energy; 137 fb-1)

Malte Mrowietz et al.

Summary: This study introduces the implementation and validation of MADANALYSIS 5 in the search for supersymmetry at 13 TeV. The validation process confirms the ability to reproduce signal acceptance in various simplified models.

Closing in on t-channel simplified dark matter models

Chiara Arina et al.

Summary: The paper presents a comprehensive analysis of three simplified models characterized by interactions between dark matter candidates, colored mediators, and the right-handed up quark of the Standard Model. Constraints from various detection experiments and LHC searches are combined to provide projections for future exclusion and discovery reaches. The study shows that future search strategies may not significantly improve compared to the present status.

Artificial proto-modelling: building precursors of a next standard model from simplified model results

Wolfgang Waltenberger et al.

Summary: A novel algorithm is introduced to identify potential dispersed signals of new physics in LHC results, using a random walk algorithm to test proto-models against simplified-model results from ATLAS and CMS. The algorithm identifies the set of analyses and/or signal regions that maximally violates the SM hypothesis while remaining compatible with LHC constraints, finding top partner, light-flavor quark partner, and lightest neutral new particle as best-performing proto-model with corresponding global p-value of approximately 0.19.

Testing new physics models with global comparisons to collider measurements: the Contur toolkit

A. Buckley et al.

Summary: Measurements at particle collider experiments, although focused on understanding Standard Model processes, can provide model-independent information about physics beyond the Standard Model. The CONTUR package enables users to test new models against the existing LHC measurements using the RIVET library. The authors believe that for this approach to be successful, the CONTUR tool needs to be accessible to a wider high energy physics community.
