Reexamining the Post-Treatment Effects on Perovskite Solar Cells: Passivation and Chloride Redistribution

Ligang Yuan et al.

Summary: Post-treatment is essential for perovskite solar cells, and this study reveals that chloride redistribution in the perovskite film plays a crucial role in improving performance. Chloride enrichment improves charge transport/recombination and 2D passivation suppresses nonradiative recombination. Cyclohexylmethylammonium iodide treatment shows superior performance compared to phenylethylammonium iodide due to stronger chloride binding energy. This work provides insights into the importance of chloride fixation for enhancing photovoltaic performance.

Steric Engineering Enables Efficient and Photostable Wide-Bandgap Perovskites for All-Perovskite Tandem Solar Cells

Jin Wen et al.

Summary: Steric engineering is used to obtain high-quality and photostable wide-bandgap perovskites suitable for all-perovskite tandem solar cells. By alloying dimethylammonium and chloride, wide bandgaps are obtained with lower bromide contents and minimized lattice strain and trap densities. The resulting WBG perovskite solar cells exhibit significantly improved performance and photostability, with a stabilized power conversion efficiency of 26.0% in all-perovskite tandem solar cells.

Coffee ring controlment in spray prepared >19% efficiency Cs0.19FA0.81PbI2.5Br0.5 perovskite solar cells

Xinxin Yu et al.

Summary: This study successfully controls the coffee ring effect in spraying technology by using a reaction-dependent regulating strategy, resulting in high-quality perovskite films for solar cells. The use of n-butyl alcohol as a solvent during spraying process effectively inhibits coffee ring effect and improves the performance of perovskite solar cells. This approach provides a reliable method for achieving high repeatability devices with good performance.

Quadruple-Cation Wide-Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells with Enhanced Thermal Stability Enabled by Vacuum Deposition

Isidora Susic et al.

Summary: This study presents a process to increase the complexity of vacuum-deposited lead halide perovskite films by multisource deposition and premixing. By adding guanidinium (GA+) to the material formulation, quadruple-cation perovskite films with enhanced thermal stability were obtained. The improved thermal stability was also observed in the corresponding solar cells. This work has important implications for the vacuum processing of complex perovskite formulations in photovoltaics and other fields of application.

Bromide complimented methylammonium-free wide bandgap perovskite solar modules with high efficiency and stability

Xianpu Ma et al.

Summary: This study proposes a strategy of bromide complementation to improve the efficiency and stability of wide bandgap perovskite-based solar cells. By treating the perovskite surface with trimethylphenylammonium bromide, the charge recombination is significantly reduced and the carrier lifetime is elongated. The solar cells and modules exhibit enhanced stability under moisture, illumination, and heat. Additionally, a high efficiency of 25.0% is achieved in four-terminal perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells.

Additive effects of methyl ammonium bromide or formamidinium bromide in methylammonium lead iodide perovskite solar cells using decaphenylcyclopentasilane

Atsushi Suzuki et al.

Summary: In this study, methylammonium lead iodide perovskite solar cells were fabricated and characterized with the incorporation of methylammonium bromide (MABr), formamidinium bromide (FABr), and decaphenylcyclopentasilane (DPPS). The addition of 5% MABr or FABr into the perovskite layer showed improvements in short-circuit current density, shunt resistance, and open-circuit voltages by enhancing uniform morphologies and suppressing defects. The stabilities of the photovoltaic performance were dependent on the degree of incorporation of MABr or FABr with the DPPS layer, which helped to suppress decomposition in the perovskite layer.

Summary: In this study, n-propylammonium chloride (PACl) is proposed as an alternative to methylammonium chloride (MACl) to improve the stability and efficiency of FAPbI(3)-based perovskite solar cells. The addition of PACl increases perovskite grain size and significantly prolongs carrier lifetime. Compared to MACl, the PACl additive leads to better stability against moisture due to the in situ formed barrier at the bulk perovskite.
