Resistivity Scaling Transition in Ultrathin Metal Film at Critical Thickness and Its Implication for the Transparent Conductor Applications

Yong-Bum Park et al.

Summary: Understanding the electrical and optical properties of ultrathin metal films at sub-10 nm thickness is crucial for their application as transparent conductors. As the thickness approaches a critical value, a rapid change in the properties occurs, influenced by the film's inhomogeneity and size-effect contributions, leading to significant alterations in carrier scattering time, resistivity, optical loss, and transmission. The critical thickness serves as a key engineering metric for determining the maximum theoretical figure-of-merit for transparent conductors using thin metal films.

Highly Efficient and Reliable Semitransparent Perovskite Solar Cells via Top Electrode Engineering

Saemon Yoon et al.

Summary: This study successfully improves the power conversion efficiency and visible light transmittance of solar cells by using gallium- and titanium-doped indium oxide (IO:GT) as transparent electrodes instead of traditional indium tin oxide (ITO). The results also demonstrate excellent stability and potential of these solar cells.

Transparent electrodes based on molybdenum-titanium-oxide with increased water stability for use as hole-transport/hole-injection components

Selina Goetz et al.

Summary: Recently, a transparent electrode called dielectric/metal/dielectric (DMD) based on MoO3 has been applied in solar cells and organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). However, the MoO3 layer is easily dissolved in water, which hinders its processing with water-based solutions. In this study, a DMD electrode based on mixed molybdenum-titanium-oxide (MTO) was introduced to improve the stability in water. The addition of titanium greatly increased the stability in water while maintaining the desirable electronic properties of MoO3. The DMD electrodes with a silver (Ag) metal layer were fabricated on both glass and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates, showing low sheet resistance and high transmittance. The MTO stability enabled processing with water-based solutions without electrode degradation. The DMDs were also successfully produced on a wide PET foil using a roll-to-roll process, demonstrating its compatibility for large-scale industrial production.

Inactive (PbI2)2RbCl stabilizes perovskite films for efficient solar cells

Yang Zhao et al.

Summary: In halide perovskite solar cells, introducing RbCl doping effectively stabilizes the perovskite phase by converting excess PbI2 into an inactive compound. This strategy achieved a certified PCE of 25.6% for FAPbI(3) perovskite solar cells, with high device stability and minimal hysteresis effects.
