Label-free detection of C-Reactive protein using bioresponsive hydrogel-based surface relief diffraction gratings

Maria Isabel Lucio et al.

Summary: A biosensing system based on bioresponsive hydrogels for selective detection of C-Reactive protein (CRP) has been developed, utilizing Direct Laser Interference Patterning to create micro-gratings on the hydrogel substrates. The system achieved detection and quantification limits in human serum dilutions, showing potential for applications related to cardiovascular diseases and sepsis. Further amplification strategies improved sensitivity, widened the linear range, and enhanced limits of detection and quantification.

Analysis of aqueous humor total antioxidant capacity and its correlation with corneal endothelial health

Yu-Ting Tsao et al.

Summary: The study aimed to analyze the impact of aqueous humor total antioxidant capacity on corneal endothelial health, finding that ascorbic acid and antioxidant proteins are major contributors to aqueous humor antioxidant capacity, which can protect corneal endothelial cells from loss and are considered independent protective factors against IECD.

A novel electronic assay based on a sol-gel transition reaction and a thin-film transistor of supramolecular hydrogels to detect alkaline phosphatase activity

Yu-Ting Tai et al.

Summary: A novel extended floating-gate thin-film transistor (EFG-TFT) combined with a supramolecular hydrogel material was developed for alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity detection. Under optimal conditions with oxygen plasma treatment, the limit of detection reached 0.024 U/L, demonstrating potential for future high-speed response sensors.
