A multifunctional paper-based supercapacitor with excellent temperature adaptability, plasticity, tensile strength, self-healing, and high thermoelectric effects

Summary: In this study, a multi-functional paper-based supercapacitor (APC-PVA@ZnCl2) with excellent temperature adaptability, plasticity, tensile strength, strong adhesion, and self-healing properties was developed by introducing PVA and ZnCl2 into carbonized paper-based materials. The APC-PVA@ZnCl2 supercapacitor exhibited high adaptability to the environment, maintaining a high volumetric specific capacitance of 3438.45 mF cm(-3) and high volumetric specific energy density of 44 mW h cm(-3) even in a low-temperature environment below zero. Additionally, the APC-PVA@ZnCl2 composite showed good tensile properties, can function as a sensing material, and displayed outstanding thermoelectric properties.

Summary: A strategy to prepare porous N-doped carbon aerogels anchored with single atomic Fe sites (FeSA@PNC) as highly efficient oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) electrocatalysts was proposed in this study. Fe-SA@PNC exhibited remarkable ORR activity and stability due to the highly stable honeycomb morphology and hierarchical pore structure, as well as the atomically dispersed Fe-N4 sites in the carbon support. Furthermore, the practical application of Fe-SA@PNC catalysts as cathode materials in Zn-air batteries was demonstrated with encouraging performance. This study provides a promising approach for constructing high-efficiency ORR single-atom catalysts.

Construction of porous carbon-based magnetic composites derived from iron zinc bimetallic metal-organic framework as broadband and high- efficiency electromagnetic wave absorbers

Summary: In this study, porous carbon-based magnetic composites derived from iron zinc bimetallic MOF were prepared and their electromagnetic parameters and absorbing properties were regulated by changing the pyrolysis temperature. The composite pyrolyzed at 700 degrees C showed the best EM absorption performance, with a minimum reflection loss of about 60 dB and a broad absorption bandwidth of 4 GHz (8-12 GHz, covering the whole X band) at a matching thickness of 2.5 mm and a filler loading ratio of 40 wt%.

Recent progress on development of electrolyte and aerogel electrodes applied in supercapacitors

Nanofibrillated Cellulose-Derived Nanofibrous Co@N-C as Oxygen Reduction Reaction Catalysts in Zn-Air Batteries

Summary: A strategy for one-dimensional nanofibrous Co@N-C oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) electrocatalysts was developed using nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) as the scaffold material. In situ coupling of a Co-adenine (Co-Ad) complex on an NFC bio-template leads to populated and well spatial distribution of C, N, and Co active species after pyrolysis, which has a pivotal effect on facilitating ORR via a four-electron-dominated process. Additionally, the internal abundant micro- and mesopores in the carbon nanofiber skeleton ensure rapid mass transport and adequate exposure of active compositions. In combination with these advantages, the as-obtained Co-Ad/NFC-700 demonstrated superior ORR activity and endowed the fabricated Zn-air battery with superb performance: a high peak power density of 167 mW cm(-2), an excellent specific capacity of 739 mA h g(-1), and an excellent cyclability exceeding 40 h.

Porphyrin and phthalocyanine based covalent organic frameworks for electrocatalysis
