Maximum Visibility: A Novel Approach for Time Series Forecasting Based on Complex Network Theory

Filipe Rodrigues De Souza Moreira et al.

Summary: This article introduces a new time series forecasting method called Maximum Visibility Approach (MVA), which is based on the Complex Network theory. MVA maps time series data into a complex network using the visibility graph method and calculates forecasts based on the similarity measures between nodes. The experimental results demonstrate that MVA outperforms other forecasting methods.

Price graphs: Utilizing the structural information of financial time series for stock prediction

Junran Wu et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novel framework to address the issues of long-term dependencies and chaotic properties in stock prediction. By transforming time series into complex networks and extracting structural information from the mapped graphs, the performance of the prediction model is improved. The effectiveness of the framework is validated through real-world stock data and trading simulations.

Fractality of Borsa Istanbul during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Mehmet Ali Balci et al.

Summary: Forecasting price changes is crucial for estimating and managing market risk in financial markets. This study investigates the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Borsa Istanbul and examines the changes in the fractal dimensions of the time series derived from daily closing prices of stocks traded on the exchange. The sector-based analysis reveals that fractal dimension changes have a significant effect on price estimation.

Coronavirus (COVID-19): ARIMA-based Time-series Analysis to Forecast near Future and the Effect of School Reopening in India

Hiteshi Tandon et al.

Summary: COVID-19, a novel coronavirus, poses a significant global threat with over a million infections and hundreds of thousands of deaths. Predicting future scenarios is crucial for prevention, healthcare preparedness, and decision making. A model has been developed to forecast COVID-19 cases in India, indicating that cases will continue to increase in the coming month. Statistical analysis suggests a minor increase in active cases when schools reopen. These prediction models will provide insight for government and medical personnel to plan and respond effectively.

Systemic Risk Analysis of Multi-Layer Financial Network System Based on Multiple Interconnections between Banks, Firms, and Assets

Qianqian Gao

Summary: This study develops a model of the multi-layer financial network system and examines the impact of different risk sources on systemic risk. The findings suggest that larger risk shocks lead to greater systemic risk, and the risk propagation cycle tends to rise and then decline. Banks, as centralized nodes, can play both blocking and propagation roles in the network. Bankruptcy risk is found to have the greatest impact on the system, followed by firm credit default risk. Increasing the average degree of firms in the bank-firm credit network, the density of the bank-asset portfolio network, and the bank capital adequacy ratio can help reduce systemic risk.
