Robust trajectory tracking with adjustable performance of underactuated surface vessels via quantized state feedback

Bong Seok Park et al.

Summary: This paper investigates a robust quantized state feedback tracking problem with preselected performance of uncertain underactuated surface vessels. A preselected-performance-based tracking strategy using quantized states is proposed to achieve robust tracking without requiring knowledge of the USV dynamics. Design conditions of performance functions are introduced to ensure the stability of the closed-loop system using quantized feedback.

Sliding Mode Motion Control for AUV with Dual-Observer Considering Thruster Uncertainty

Yushan Sun et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a sliding mode control method with dual-observer estimation to address the AUV 3D motion control problem in the presence of thruster misalignment uncertainty and thrust loss uncertainty. By considering the force and moment deviation as disturbances and introducing disturbance observers, the designed controller ensures better motion control for the AUV despite thruster misalignment and thrust loss.

Event-Triggered Adaptive Neural Fault-Tolerant Control of Underactuated MSVs With Input Saturation

Guibing Zhu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the tracking control problem of marine surface vessels (MSVs) in the presence of uncertain dynamics and external disturbances, considering undesirable faults and input saturation of actuators. A novel control scheme is proposed using a saturation function, event-triggered mechanism, and neural network technique, which is robust, adaptive, tolerant, and guarantees stable tracking of MSVs without prior knowledge of dynamics or faults. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Summary: This study focuses on the nonlinear dynamics and robust positioning control of underwater vehicles under the influence of ocean currents and model uncertainties. It establishes motion equations, trajectory generation methods, and proposes a dynamic positioning control system based on dynamic sliding mode control theory. Through simulation studies, it is shown that the proposed controller using the quadratic programming algorithm provides higher stability, smaller steady-state error, and stronger robustness.

Finite-Time Unknown Observer-Based Interactive Trajectory Tracking Control of Asymmetric Underactuated Surface Vehicles

Ning Wang et al.

Summary: A finite-time unknown observer-based interactive trajectory tracking control scheme was proposed for an asymmetric underactuated surface vehicle. The philosophy of interactive trajectory, featuring freely prescribed surge and yaw dynamics, was innovatively established for the first time, contributing to a family of uniformly trackable trajectories. The closed-loop system stability was guaranteed by combining Lyapunov approach with cascade analysis, proving that tracking errors globally asymptotically converge to zero.
