Catalytic degradation of methylene blue using silver nanoparticles synthesized by honey

Mayasar I. Al-Zaban et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the efficient catalytic activity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in the reduction of methylene blue dye, prepared with environmentally friendly reducing and stabilizing agents such as honey. Characterization of the AgNPs was done using UV-Vis, FTIR, and TEM, revealing spherical and monodispersed particles with sizes ranging from 5 to 25 nm. The degradation performance of AgNPs on methylene blue was analyzed, showing a 92% degradation rate after 72 hours, along with new peaks observed through HPLC analysis.
