Acid permeability related corrosion protection properties of PTFE coatings for waste heat recovery

Kaixin Xu et al.

Summary: Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) coatings show promise as corrosion protection coatings for waste heat recovery, but they have permeability to acidic corrosive media and there is a lack of mechanistic investigation into the corrosion protection properties of PTFE coatings in H2SO4 solutions. This study investigates the acid permeability related corrosion protection properties of PTFE coatings for waste heat recovery. The results reveal that PTFE coatings in 30 wt% H2SO4 solutions have the poorest corrosion protection properties due to the shortest H bonds for H3O+ shuttled in these solutions. This provides theoretical guidance for the structural design of PTFE coatings for corrosion protection.

Maintaining low friction coefficient and ultralow wear in metal-filled PTFE composites

Sifat Ullah et al.

Summary: Reinforcing fillers can significantly reduce the wear rate of PTFE, with a certain type of alpha-alumina particles achieving an ultralow wear rate. However, alpha-Al2O3 can also increase the friction coefficient of PTFE. PTFE composites with Cr, Mn, and Ti showed improved performance in reducing wear rate and friction coefficient compared to PTFE-alpha-Al2O3.

Flexible and biocompatible poly (vinyl alcohol)/multi-walled carbon nanotubes hydrogels with epsilon-near-zero properties

Jiahong Tian et al.

Summary: Epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) materials have unique physical properties and show great potentials in the fields of flexible electronics, wearable devices, and sensors. In this study, flexible and biocompatible poly (vinyl alcohol)/multi-walled carbon nanotubes (PVA/MWCNTs) hydrogels were used as ENZ materials at radio frequency for the first time. The hydrogels exhibited two different water states, and the ENZ phenomenon was observed when the MWCNTs content reached a certain percentage.

Polyurethane acrylate/multiwall carbon nanotube composites as temperature and gas sensors: Fabrication, characterization, and simulation

Iraj Hasanzadeh et al.

Summary: In this study, polyurethane acrylate/multiwall carbon nanotube nanocomposites were prepared and characterized for potential applications in printable semiconductors. The dispersion and structure of the nanocomposites were investigated, and their electrical conductivity property was studied as a function of temperature. The nanocomposites showed good dispersion and structure and exhibited a linear relationship between electrical conductivity and MWCNTs quantity. Furthermore, the nanocomposites were found to have potential applications as temperature sensors and gas sensors.

Fabrication of robust and versatile superhydrophobic coating by two-step spray method: An experimental and molecular dynamics simulation study

Hamid Daneshmand et al.

Summary: The study focused on fabricating superhydrophobic surfaces using a two-step spray method, investigating parameters such as stability of spray suspension and thermal stability of the coating. Results showed that decreasing particle agglomeration rate enhances the hydrophobicity of the layer, while increasing temperature may reduce roughness and hydrophobicity.
