Fabrication of magnetic nickel incorporated carbon nanofibers for superfast adsorption of sulfadiazine: Performance and mechanisms exploration

Simeng Xia et al.

Summary: Novel magnetic nickel incorporated carbon nanofibers (Ni@CNF) were synthesized for sulfadiazine (SDZ) adsorption, with Ni atoms playing a crucial role in enhancing adsorption capacity. Ni@CNF showed great applicability to various organic contaminants, excellent stability, and reusability over multiple cycles. This study provides evidence for constructing nickel incorporated adsorbents with impressive adsorption capacity in environmental remediation.

Occurrence of Emerging Contaminants in Southeast Asian Environments: Present Status, Challenges, and Future Prospects

Theodora H. Y. Lee et al.

Summary: The status of emerging contaminant profiles in Southeast Asia is unclear and often overshadowed by research conducted in developed regions. High population density and poor sanitation infrastructure in Southeast Asia introduce large amounts of emerging contaminants into the aquatic environment. Antibiotics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, and phthalate esters are among the most frequently studied groups of emerging contaminants in this region. Overutilization of antibiotics and pesticides in Southeast Asia's agrarian economies poses a major threat to aquatic environments and human health.

Adsorption of sulfamethoxazole, sulfadiazine and sulfametazine in single and ternary systems on activated carbon. Experimental and DFT computations

Juan Carlos Serna-Carrizales et al.

Summary: This study investigated the single and ternary removal of sulfonamides from water using granular activated carbon. The results showed that activated carbon had a higher affinity for sulfamethoxazole in ternary systems, and the total adsorption capacity doubled in ternary compared to single systems. Additionally, the study proposed three mathematical models to estimate adsorption capacity for each sulfonamide based on pH, temperature, and initial concentration.
