Tuning of relaxation phenomenon by substitution of La in BiFeO3

Modified bismuth ferrite Bi1_xLaxFeO3 (x = 0.0, 0.025, 0.050, 0.075, and 0.01) was synthesized using the co-precipitation method, and X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed its rhombohedral crystal structure. The addition of La promoted crystal growth and increased crystallite size. Morphological analysis revealed spherical grains that agglomerated due to reduced grain size when La was incorporated at the Bi site.
La modified bismuth ferrite Bi1_xLaxFeO3 (x = 0.0, 0.025, 0.050, 0.075, and 0.01) is synthesized using the co-precipitation approach to study its structural, morphological and dielectric response. Structural analysis is car-ried out using X-ray diffraction technique which confirmed the formation of rhombohedral crystal structure with R3c space group. The incorporation of La in BiFeO3 assisted the crystal growth and causes the increase in crystallite size. Morphological analysis uncovered the spherical grains which get agglomerated due to the reduction in grain size when La is incorporated at Bi site. To probe the presence of various relaxation phe-nomenon, to distinguish different range of hopping and active contribution of grains and grain boundaries in different frequency ranges, the detailed dielectric behaviors has been investigated by measuring the real and imaginary parts of dielectric constant, impedance and electric modulus in a wide frequency range i.e., 20 Hz to 20 MHz.
