Physical Responses of Pinctada fucata to Salinity Stress

Jingru Yang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the physiological and biochemical changes in black and red shell Pinctada fucata under acute high and low salt stress. The results showed that red P. fucata responded more quickly to changes in salinity and exhibited reduced damage compared to black P. fucata. Additionally, P. fucata was found to be more adaptable to acute low salt environments. These findings have important implications for the selective breeding of P. fucata.

The Effects of Breeding Environment and Food Type on the Survival and Growth of Red Sea Cucumber (Apostichopus japonicus) Larvae

Min-Seok Jwa et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of water temperature, salinity, and food type on the survival and growth of red sea cucumber larvae. The optimal rearing conditions identified were a water temperature of 22°C, salinity of 30-31 psu, and Rhodotorula+EM as food, which could help increase seed production of the red sea cucumber A. japonicus.

Aquaculture of the tropical sea cucumber, Stichopus monotuberculatus: Induced spawning, detailed records of gonadal and embryonic development, and improvements in larval breeding by digestive enzyme supply in diet

Chuhang Cheng et al.

Summary: This study found that low-temperature stimulation can effectively induce spawning of S. monotuberculatus, and enhancing larval breeding by supplementing multiple digestive enzymes. The period from July to September is identified as the optimal breeding time for S. monotuberculatus in Hainan Province.

The Effects of Hypoxia and Anthropogenic Disturbance on the Distribution, Abundance and Recruitment of the Sea Cucumber Holothuria leucospilota at the Mouth of a Subtropical Bay, China

Zonghe Yu et al.

Summary: The study shows that hypoxia influences the distribution and recruitment of sea cucumber Holothuria leucospilota, leading to a decline in population size in the South China Sea. While population size decreased significantly at site S1 after 2017, it increased substantially at site S2 during the summers of 2017 and 2020.
