Stabilization of liquid instabilities with ionized gas jets

Sanghoo Park et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of gas jets on a water surface and the stabilizing effect of weakly ionized gas on cavities. Experimental results demonstrate that plasma bullets generated by weakly ionized gas can exert more force on the water surface through electrohydrodynamic flow, leading to cavity expansion without destabilization.

Enhancement of discharge properties of atmospheric pressure plasma systems through trace radio-frequency oscillation control

Y. Sun et al.

Summary: A novel approach using dual-frequency excitation sources was reported to enhance the properties of non-equilibrium plasma under atmospheric pressure. By applying a small radio-frequency component in addition to a low-frequency source, improvements in electron acceleration, density, and discharge stability were observed without significant increase in gas temperature. The results suggest that the system allows for higher input power when the RF component is comparable in magnitude with the LF component.

Atmospheric pressure dual RF-LF frequency discharge: transition from α to α-γ-mode

Romain Magnan et al.

Summary: This study investigates the transition mechanism of a dual frequency dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) from alpha to alpha-gamma mode at atmospheric pressure, and finds that the increase in emissions of argon and NH, as well as the particle density, characterize this transition. Additionally, it is observed in experiments that increasing the NH3 concentration leads to a decrease in the LF voltage amplitude required to reach the alpha-gamma mode.
