Epidemiological and Clinical Characteristics of Influenza Outbreaks Among Children in Chongqing, China

Summary: In this study, the spatial and temporal characteristics of influenza outbreaks among children in Chongqing from 2014 to 2018 were analyzed. Significant differences in clinical symptoms between influenza A and B were identified. Spatial autocorrelation analysis revealed Xiushan district as the most likely cluster area.

The results showed that knowledge directly influences behavior, while attitude serves as a strong mediating factor between knowledge and practice. Motivators and barriers towards clinical research participation: A population-based survey from an Arab MENA country

Summary: This study examined the awareness and attitude of the Jordanian public towards clinical research, as well as their motivators and barriers to participating in clinical research. The majority of participants were aware of clinical research and recognized its role in health promotion. Motivating factors for participation included contributing to science and benefiting others, while time constraints and fear of research procedures were the main barriers. Most participants were willing to participate in future clinical research.

Correlation of clinical characteristics between patients with seasonal influenza and patients infected by the wild type or delta variant of SARS-CoV-2

Summary: By comparing the clinical characteristics of patients infected with different variants of COVID-19 and seasonal influenza, the study found significant differences in age, gender ratio, and duration from disease onset to hospitalization between COVID-19 patients and those with seasonal influenza. Individual treatment improved hematological parameters in both COVID-19 and influenza patients, but compromised biomarkers at discharge indicated persistent renal or myocardial impairment.

Influenza vaccination hesitancy in large urban centers in South America. Qualitative analysis of confidence, complacency and convenience across risk groups

Summary: This study investigates the determinants of influenza vaccination hesitancy in middle-class, urban risk group populations in Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, countries with varying vaccination coverage. It finds that confidence, complacency, and convenience play different roles in shaping vaccination attitudes among different risk groups, and information and communication strategies need to be tailored accordingly. Confidence and complacency should be addressed together in order to effectively increase vaccination rates among priority groups.

Older adults' vaccine hesitancy: Psychosocial factors associated with influenza, pneumococcal, and shingles vaccine uptake

Summary: The study found that older adults had higher awareness and uptake of the influenza vaccine compared to the pneumococcal and shingles vaccines. A lower sense of collective responsibility independently predicted lack of uptake of all three vaccines.
