Influence of Rock Dust Additives as Fine Aggregate Replacement on Properties of Cement Composites-A Review

Magdalena Dobiszewska et al.

Summary: This paper presents a comprehensive review of the scientific findings regarding the use of rock dust from different geological origins in the production of mortars and concrete. The influence of rock dust as a replacement for fine aggregates on cementitious composites was analyzed and evaluated, considering the properties and durability of fresh and hardened concrete and mortar.

Flow assessment and development towards sustainable self-consolidating concrete using blended basalt and limestone-cement systems

Dima Youness et al.

Summary: The study compared the flow assessment of partial replacement of cement using Basalt powder (BP) in developing Self-Consolidating Concrete (SCC) with Limestone powder (LP), showing that mixtures with more than 15% BP replacement had higher yield stress values, and BP mixtures generally had higher viscosity values except for those with 15%-20% replacement where LP had slightly higher values. Due to the morphological and chemical nature of volcanic powder BP, mixtures with BP replacement showed superior and durable compressive strength development at 56 days.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of limestone powder, fly ash, zeolite powder, and their blends on fresh and hardened properties of self-compacting mortars. The experimental results indicate that 20% replacement of cement with blend of limestone and zeolite powders provided the most improved response compared to other compositions.
