Development and validation of a live birth prediction model for expected poor ovarian response patients during IVF/ICSI

Xiaoyun Gong et al.

Summary: This study developed a nomogram based on POSEIDON criteria to predict live birth in patients with poor ovarian response. Age, BMI, AMH, normal fertilized oocytes, and basal FSH were identified as independent factors predicting live birth in these patients. The nomogram model showed good predictive accuracy in both the training and validation sets.

The combined effect of BMI and age on ART outcomes

Summary: For women with infertility and overweight/obesity, delaying infertility treatment to promote weight loss should consider female age. Substantial weight loss in a short period of time (3 months) seems to provide any benefit, particularly for women over 38 years old.

Predicting pregnancy chances leading to term live birth in oligo/anovulatory women diagnosed with PCOS

Marlise N. Gunning et al.

Summary: This prospective cohort follow-up study aimed to identify patient features that predict the time to pregnancy leading to term live birth in infertile women diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The results showed that race, smoking, BMI, insulin, total testosterone, and SHBG concentrations were associated with the chance of pregnancy.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of pre-treatment body mass index (BMI) on the cumulative live birth rate (CLBR) in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) undergoing multiple in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles. The results showed that patients with higher BMI had lower CLBR, and there was a negative correlation between BMI and CLBR.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: Etiology, Current Management, and Future Therapeutics

Samradhi Singh et al.

Summary: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex disorder characterized by anovulation, infertility, obesity, insulin resistance, and polycystic ovaries. Various risk factors such as lifestyle, environmental pollutants, genetics, gut dysbiosis, neuroendocrine alterations, and obesity contribute to the development of PCOS. Restoring gut microbiota through probiotics, prebiotics, or fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) may provide a noninvasive therapeutic approach for preventing and managing PCOS.

Summary: This study aims to update the evidence on anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) as predictive factors for live birth outcome in women undergoing assisted conception, and to explore the modulating effect of age. The results suggested that AMH was associated with live birth, with better predictive value in women of advanced age.

Serum progesterone level above 0.85 ng/mL and progesterone/estradiol ratio may be useful predictors for replacing cleavage-stage with blastocyst-stage embryo transfer in fresh IVF/ICSI cycles without premature progesterone elevation

Vehbi Yavuz Tokgoz et al.

Summary: The study found that even when serum progesterone levels are below the accepted cut-off level of 1.5 ng/mL, if the levels are below 0.85 ng/mL, it may result in decreased pregnancy outcomes in fresh embryo transfer cycles.

Summary: The study showed that BMI did not affect the success rate of fresh embryo transfer in women undergoing their first IVF/ICSI treatment, but was associated with pregnancy complications such as gestational diabetes and hypertension. Additionally, the proportion of Cesarean-section increased with higher BMI.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) increases the risk of subsequent gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM): A novel therapeutic perspective

Abbas Alam Choudhury et al.

Summary: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a disorder that affects both reproductive and metabolic health in women and is a leading cause of infertility. Pregnant women with PCOS have an increased risk of pregnancy complications, including gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). GDM is not only a temporary condition during pregnancy but also a warning symptom of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular disease (CVD). PCOS is a lifelong disorder that can lead to various long-term health complications, such as chronic menstrual irregularity, infertility, endometrial hyperplasia, and endometrial cancer. However, there is inconclusive evidence regarding whether PCOS per se is a risk factor for GDM.

Association Between Type of Infertility and Live Birth in Couples With a Single Intrauterine Insemination Resulting in Pregnancy: A Propensity Score Matching Cohort Study

Wen He et al.

Summary: This retrospective study aimed to explore the relationship between the type of infertility and live birth rates in patients treated with intrauterine insemination (IUI). The results showed that patients with secondary infertility had higher live birth rates compared to those with primary infertility, especially during the later stage of follow-up. Similar findings were observed in the subgroup analysis of patients younger than 35 years old who were treated with natural cycles and IUI.

Summary: Blastocyst-stage transfer results in higher live birth rates compared to cleavage-stage transfer in fresh cycles. However, its impact on cumulative clinical pregnancy rates is uncertain. Further research is needed to assess the overall effect of blastocyst-stage transfer on cumulative live birth and pregnancy rates.
