Comparison of machine learning and logistic regression as predictive models for adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes of preeclampsia: A retrospective study

Dongying Zheng et al.

Summary: This study developed predictive models for preeclampsia using both machine learning algorithms and traditional statistical models, and evaluated their performances. The results showed that machine learning algorithms demonstrated better predictive abilities, while logistic regression showed good calibration. The study suggests that machine learning has potential in addressing the prediction of preeclampsia.

Lupus Low Disease Activity State Achievement Is Important for Reducing Adverse Outcomes in Pregnant Patients With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Ji-Won Kim et al.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the frequency and risk factors of complications during pregnancy in women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The results showed that pregnant women with SLE have a higher risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes and pregnancies should be delayed until achieving LLDAS and should be closely monitored with the lowest possible dose of CS.

Machine learning model for predicting malaria using clinical information

You Won Lee et al.

Summary: This study developed a machine learning model for malaria diagnosis using patient information, with random forest performing best in the solely parasitic disease dataset, and gradient boosting performing best in the total dataset. The synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE) proved to be effective in improving model performance, with nationality identified as the most important feature in predicting malaria for imbalanced data.

Miscarriage matters: the epidemiological, physical, psychological, and economic costs of early pregnancy loss

Siobhan Quenby et al.

Summary: Miscarriage, characterized by the loss of a pregnancy before viability, has a significant global impact with a high occurrence rate and various risk factors. It can result in both physical and psychological consequences for individuals, highlighting the importance of providing mental health support and specialized obstetric care for women who have experienced miscarriage.

Predictive factors of fetal and maternal pregnancy outcomes in Japanese patients with systemic lupus erythematosus

Kensuke Irino et al.

Summary: The study retrospectively analyzed 64 pregnancies in 39 cases of lupus patients at Kyushu University Hospital from October 2002 to July 2018. The results showed that 29.7% of patients experienced lupus flare during pregnancy, with discontinuation of immunosuppressants being a significant risk factor. Additionally, fetal stillbirth rates were significantly higher in cases with lower C3 levels at 12 weeks of gestation compared to before conception.

Differential privacy based classification model for mining medical data stream using adaptive random forest

Hayder K. Fatlawi et al.

Summary: A classification model with differential privacy is proposed for mining medical data streams using Adaptive Random Forest (ARF). Experimental results demonstrate that ARF generally shows more stable performance compared to the other six techniques when applied to four medical datasets.
