Gastric Cancer, Version 2.2022

Jaffer A. Ajani et al.

Summary: Gastric cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, with over 95% being adenocarcinomas. It is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, leading to a poor prognosis. However, systemic therapy can alleviate symptoms, improve survival, and enhance quality of life. The implementation of biomarker testing has significantly impacted clinical practice and patient care. Targeted therapies have shown encouraging results in clinical trials. Palliative management is recommended for patients with unresectable or metastatic cancer.

68Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 PET/MR in the Evaluation of Gastric Carcinomas: Comparison with 18F-FDG PET/CT

Chunxia Qin et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the performance of Ga-68-FAPI PET/MR in diagnosing primary tumors and metastatic lesions in patients with gastric carcinomas, comparing it with F-18-FDG PET/CT. The results showed that Ga-68-FAPI PET/MR outperformed F-18-FDG PET/CT in detecting primary tumors and most metastatic lesions, suggesting its potential as a replacement for F-18-FDG PET/CT.

Comparison of Diagnostic Efficacy of [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 and [18F]FDG PET/CT for Staging and Restaging of Gastric Cancer

Shumao Zhang et al.

Summary: This study compared the diagnostic efficacy of [Ga-68]Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT and [F-18]-FDG PET/CT for gastric cancer, showing that [Ga-68]Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT had higher sensitivity for detecting primary tumors, lymph nodes, and distant metastases. It also provided more accurate information for tumor staging and restaging in gastric cancer.

The value of CT-based radiomics nomogram in differential diagnosis of different histological types of gastric cancer

Hao Huang et al.

Summary: This study establishes and verifies a nomogram based on computed tomography (CT) radiomics analysis for predicting the histological types of gastric cancer preoperatively in patients with surgical indications. The radiomics model and nomogram show good discriminant performance and calibration curves. The decision curve analysis (DCA) demonstrates the clinical utility of the radiomics nomogram. This study contributes to the formulation of better clinical treatment plans for gastric cancer.

PET/CT for Predicting Occult Lymph Node Metastasis in Gastric Cancer

Danyu Ma et al.

Summary: This paper explores the feasibility and predicting effectiveness of using PET/CT to detect occult lymph node metastasis (OLNM) in gastric cancer patients. The current landscape and future trends of primary metabolic parameters and new imaging agents of PET are reviewed. Non-invasive detection of OLNM can assist surgeons in choosing appropriate lymph node dissection areas, reducing unnecessary dissections and providing more rational, personalized, and comprehensive treatments for gastric cancer patients.

Lilan Fu et al.

Summary: This study compared [Ga-68]Ga-FAPI-04/[F-18]FAPI-42 PET/CT with [F-18]FDG PET/CT in the evaluation of initial gastric cancer. The results showed that [Ga-68]Ga-FAPI-04/[F-18]FAPI-42 PET/CT outperformed [F-18]FDG PET/CT in the evaluation of primary tumors with signet-ring cell carcinoma (SRCC) and peritoneal metastasis. However, no clinically useful improvement was observed in N staging.

Summary: Radiomic features derived from routine medical images have the potential to predict therapy response and prognosis in gastric cancer. However, the current research in this field is heterogeneous and of relatively low quality. Efforts towards standardization and collaboration are needed to fully utilize radiomics in clinical applications.
