Determination and modeling of binary solid-liquid equilibria of para-xylene/meta-xylene, para-xylene/ortho-xylene by DSC method

Zhenxing Cai et al.

Summary: This study investigated the solid-liquid equilibria of three binary mixtures containing para-xylene, ortho-xylene, meta-xylene, and ethylbenzene using the DSC method. Eutectic phase diagrams were observed for the para-xylene/ortho-xylene and para-xylene/meta-xylene binary systems. The experimental data were well correlated by the Apelblat equation and lambda H equation, providing important engineering data for the separation and purification of xylene mixtures.

Solid-Liquid Equilibria for Biphenyl plus n-Tetracosane Binary Mixtures and n-Tetracosane plus Dibenzofuran plus Biphenyl Ternary Mixtures: Experimental Data and Prediction with UNIFAC Models

Issam Boudouh et al.

Summary: Solid-liquid equilibria for binary and ternary mixtures consisting of biphenyl, n-tetracosane, and dibenzofuran were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The experimental data were compared to predictions made by ideal solution and UNIFAC models. The UNIFAC-Lyngby method showed the best agreement with the experimental data.

Current Trends in Predictive Methods and Electrolyte Equations of State

Martina Costa Reis

Summary: This mini-review examines the recent advances in predictive methods and electrolyte equations of state for the development of thermodynamic models for electrolyte solutions. It focuses on their performance in predicting activity coefficients and solid-liquid phase equilibrium data, while also providing valuable references and information for the models and theories that form the basis of electrolyte solution thermodynamics.

Asphaltene Precipitation Prediction during Bitumen Recovery: Experimental Approach versus Population Balance and Connectionist Models

Turar Yerkenov et al.

Summary: Using both machine learning and population balance model (PBM), this research aimed to model the effect of paraffinic solvent injection on asphaltene precipitation during bitumen recovery. The committee machine intelligent system (CMIS) was found to be the superior model with relative accuracy in predicting asphaltene precipitation.

Thermodynamic, Computational Solubility Parameters in Organic Solvents and In Silico GastroPlus Based Prediction of Ketoconazole

Sultan Alshehri et al.

Summary: The study aimed to identify a suitable solvent for solubilizing ketoconazole and enhancing its permeation across the skin. Results showed that oleic acid, limonene, span 80, THP, and eugenol exhibited the highest solubility of KETO at 318.2 K. The thermodynamic parameters and drug permeation in the skin were analyzed, indicating that THP could be a better option for topical, transdermal, and oral formulations.
