Spacer Engineering of Thiophene-Based Two-Dimensional/Three-Dimensional Hybrid Perovskites for Stable and Efficient Solar Cells

Yaxin Du et al.

Summary: This study found that 2-thiopheneethylammonium iodide (TEAI) can serve as an organic spacer for 2D/3D hybrid perovskite solar cells, improving both the stability and efficiency of the devices. TEAI as a spacer effectively induces crystalline growth and orientation, reducing defects and enhancing surface hydrophobicity. The 2D/3D hybrid perovskite solar cells based on TEAI achieved an efficiency of 18.75%.

Through structural isomerism: positional effect of alkyne functionality on molecular optical properties

Nakka Nagaraju et al.

Summary: Literature studies on the effects of alkyne functionality in manipulating the optical properties of donor-pi-acceptor-type molecular scaffolds have been limited in comparison to those on the alkene functional group. In this study, two structurally isomeric donor-acceptor (D-A) dyes were synthesized to investigate the positional effect of alkyne functionality on their optical and electrochemical properties, with one dye (CAPC) showing better characteristics for DSSC applications than the other (PACC).

Quasi-2D Bilayer Surface Passivation for High Efficiency Narrow Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells

Danni Yu et al.

Summary: The combination of comprehensive surface passivation and effective interface carrier transfer plays a critical role in high-performance perovskite solar cells. A new molecule, 2-thiopheneethylamine thiocyanate (TEASCN), is synthesized to construct a bilayer quasi-2D structure on a tin-lead mixed perovskite surface. This bilayer structure passivates the perovskite surface and ensures effective carrier transfer, resulting in improved open-circuit voltage and certified efficiency.

Hot carrier redistribution, electron-phonon interaction, and their role in carrier relaxation in thin film metal-halide perovskites

S. Sourabh et al.

Summary: Temperature dependent photoluminescence and transmission spectra of perovskite compounds with different components show that the changes are more pronounced at low temperatures than at room temperature. The Stokes shift of samples with only Pb components is mainly influenced by interaction strength and phonon energy, while Sn based film exhibits an unusual lack of Stokes shift. The slow carrier cooling in metal-halide perovskites is largely unaffected by the components interchanged and is dominated by the low thermal conductivity of all perovskites.

Diamine tailored smooth and continuous perovskite single crystal with enhanced photoconductivity

Wantian Yang et al.

Summary: The study systematically investigated the morphology and structure characteristics of two types of diamine-based perovskite single crystals and their effects on electrical properties and photodetecting performances. It was found that PDAPbBr(4) perovskite with smooth morphology and shortened interlayer distance exhibited lower defect density and higher electrical conductivity compared to PA(2)PbBr(4) perovskite. Additionally, a PDAPbBr(4)-based photodetector outperformed a PA(2)PbBr(4)-based photodetector in responsivity, on/off ratio, and response time.
