Chemical Analysis of the Gallium Surface in a Physiologic Buffer

Taehwan Lim et al.

Summary: This study investigates the chemical changes on the surface of gallium in a physiological buffer. The results demonstrate that oxidation and corrosion of the gallium surface occur more rapidly in the buffer compared to air. Gallium ions and protons are released following a square root of time growth pattern. Spectroscopic techniques reveal the chemical composition change on the gallium surface. This research provides important insights into the interaction between the gallium surface and the biological environment.

Electronic structure theory investigation on the electrochemical properties of cyclohexanone derivatives as organic carbonyl-based cathode material for lithium-ion batteries

ThankGod C. Egemonye et al.

Summary: Organic carbonyl-based compounds have gained attention as organic cathode materials in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to their high cyclability, low cost, and tunable chemical structure. However, their utilization is limited by poor charge capacity and dissolution in electrolytes. In this study, cyclohexanone derivatives were theoretically investigated, and it was found that compound H-2 and H-3 exhibited promising electrochemical properties, making them suitable as organic cathode materials for LIBs.

Meta-Hybrid Density Functional Theory Prediction of the Reactivity, Stability, and IGM of Azepane, Oxepane, Thiepane, and Halogenated Cycloheptane

Tomsmith O. Unimuke et al.

Summary: The application of plain cycloalkanes and heterocyclic derivatives in the synthesis of valuable natural products and pharmacologically active intermediates has increased significantly in recent times, with a focus on lower cycloalkane members. The structural and molecular properties of higher seven-membered and nonaromatic heterocyclic derivatives are less understood, despite their stable nature and extensive application, indicating a need for further research in this area. Various quantum chemical calculations were employed to investigate the structural reactivity, stability, and behavior of substituents on cycloheptane and its derivatives, revealing insights into their molecular properties and interactions.
