Electrochemical NO reduction to NH3 on Cu single atom catalyst

Kai Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, single-atomic copper anchored on molybdenum disulfide (Cu-1/MoS2) was found to be a highly efficient catalyst for electrochemical reduction of NO to NH3. Cu-1/MoS2 exhibited an NH3 yield rate of 337.5 mu mol.h(-1).cm(-2) with a Faradaic efficiency of 90.6% at -0.6 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE). Experimental and theoretical results revealed that Cu-1-S-3 motifs enable effective activation and hydrogenation of NO, as well as retard proton coverage, leading to high activity and selectivity for NORR.

Visible Light Photocatalyst and Antibacterial Activity of BFO (Bismuth Ferrite) Nanoparticles from Honey

M. Sharmila et al.

Summary: Visible light-driven photocatalyst BiFeO3 (BFO) nanoparticles were synthesized by the auto-combustion method. The structural, optical, and morphological activities of the bismuth loaded BFO nanoparticles were characterized. It was found that the bismuth content modified the lattice parameters and reduced the bandgap energy of BFO. The 2% bismuth loaded BFO nanoparticles exhibited better morphology, catalytic activity, and antibacterial activity.

Fabrication of a Reusable Carbon Dot/Gold Nanoparticle/Metal-Organic Framework Film for Fluorescence Detection of Lead Ions in Water

Joseph F. Olorunyomi et al.

Summary: A bioinspired metal-organic framework (MOF) material has been developed to achieve high sensitivity and selectivity for Pb2+ through fluorescence sensing by imitating metal-protein interactions. The HS-C/Au(x)/UiO-66 composite films, modified with both gold nanoparticles and thiol-functionalized carbon dots, demonstrate extraordinary sensitivity to Pb2+ and can switch between fluorescence quenching and enhancement by adjusting the Au content. This solid-state sensing platform shows great potential for ensuring public safety from Pb2+ contamination in drinking water.

Boosting sunlight-powered photocatalytic fuel cell with S-scheme Bi2WO6/ZnO nanorod array composite photoanode

Zi-Jun Yong et al.

Summary: The construction of intimate contact and effective segregation of charge carrier is an important approach to improve the photoactivity of heterojunction catalyst. In this study, a S-scheme flake ball-like Bi2WO6 loaded on ZnO nanorod array composite photoanode was fabricated and utilized in a sunlight-powered photocatalytic fuel cell for the first time. The enhanced photoactivity of the composite was attributed to the one-dimensional nanorod array morphology and the formation of S-scheme heterojunction structure between the Bi2WO6 and ZnO NRA, which greatly separated charge and retained high redox potential.
