Molecular dynamic simulation and experimental investigation on the synergistic mechanism and synergistic effect of (1Z) N [2 (methylthio) phenyl] 2oxopropanehydrazonoyl chloride (S1) corrosion inhibitor on mild steel in acid medium1M HCl

Abdelkader Ziouani et al.

Summary: The inhibitory effect of Schiff base (S1) on the corrosion of mild steel in HCl solution was studied using various experimental methods. The experimental results showed that S1 exhibited good inhibitory activity, with effectiveness increasing with inhibitor concentration and decreasing with temperature. The maximum inhibition efficiency of 87% was observed at 25°C with a concentration of 2.5 x 10-3 M. The adsorption isotherms indicated a strong correlation with the Langmuir isotherm. The study also investigated the synergistic effect between S1 and iodine anions, showing a strong inhibitory activity of 85% at 5 x 10-5 M, with good agreement between experimental and theoretical results.

Theoretical evaluation of spirocyclic compounds as green corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel

Parviz Nourpour et al.

Summary: The corrosion inhibition efficiency of spirocyclic compounds in 0.1 M HCl was investigated using DFT calculations and MD simulations. The most effective corrosion inhibitors were determined based on calculated energy levels, quantum molecular descriptors, and thermochemical parameters. MD simulations showed that the adsorption energies of the inhibitors on steel depended on the number of molecules, with a greater anti-corrosion effect observed when more inhibitory molecules were adsorbed. One of the molecules was identified as a potential carbon steel corrosion inhibitor for further experiments.

An Overview of Molecular Dynamic Simulation for Corrosion Inhibition of Ferrous Metals

Nur Izzah Nabilah Haris et al.

Summary: Molecular dynamics (MD) simulation is a powerful tool for investigating the molecular level working mechanisms of corrosion inhibitors, providing valuable information when combined with experimental measurements. Despite the growth in studies utilizing MD evaluation, there is still uncertainty regarding the approaches and steps for corrosion inhibition of organic inhibitors on ferrous metal in acidic solutions.

Inhibition Evaluation of Chromotrope Dyes for the Corrosion of Mild Steel in an Acidic Environment: Thermodynamic and Kinetic Aspects

Ahmed Fawzy et al.

Summary: In this study, chromotropic acid (CA) and chromotrope 2R (CR) were investigated as inhibitors against mild steel corrosion in sulfuric acid solutions. The inhibition efficiencies increased with inhibitor concentrations and decreased with rising temperature. The inhibitors acted as mixed-type inhibitors with anodic prevalence, forming a shielding layer on the steel surfaces.
