Plant-endophytic bacteria interactions associated with root and leaf microbiomes of Cattleya walkeriana and their effect on plant growth

Summary: This study isolated endophytic bacteria from root and leaf microbiomes in different Cattleya walkeriana orchid agroecosystems (natural habitat, greenhouse, and in vitro cultivation) to explore the mechanisms promoting plant and enzymatic growth. A total of 67 endophytic bacteria were isolated, all of which showed biological nitrogen fixation capacity. Some strains also demonstrated the ability to produce plant growth-promoting substances and solubilize nutrients. These bacterial strains have the potential to serve as bioinoculants for sustainable orchid cultivation.

Transcriptome analysis of the growth-promoting effect of volatile organic compounds produced by Microbacterium aurantiacum GX14001 on tobacco (Nicotiana benthamiana)

Summary: This study found that the VOCs produced by the potential PGPR strain GX14001 can significantly promote tobacco growth. Transcriptome and pathway analysis revealed that GX14001 VOCs affected gene expression in tobacco and promoted growth. Further experiments showed that GX14001 promoted plant growth through the regulation of plant hormone signal pathways.

Summary: This study demonstrated that Photorhabdus akhurstii sp. nov. 0813-124 has the potential to control the devastating fungus Colletotrichum gloeosporioides in strawberries. The bioactive ingredients, glidobactin A and cepafungin I, were identified and their expression in different phases was analyzed. These findings suggest that P. akhurstii sp. nov. 0813-124 could be used as a biocontrol agent or as part of a natural product repertoire for combating C. gloeosporioides.

In this study, potential microbial strains were selected from the rhizospheric region of different crops in hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh. The selected strains were found to promote the growth and physiological parameters of Amaranthus crops. These efficient microbial strains can be used as biofertilizer for crops growing in hilly region for agricultural sustainability.

Further research is needed to elucidate the mechanisms of action of VOCs in plant drought tolerance.
