Summary: Somatic embryogenesis in tamarillo is a complex process regulated by various factors, including the plant growth regulator indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). This study investigated the endogenous levels of IAA during induction and in calli samples using chemical quantification and immunohistochemistry. The results showed that embryogenic calli had higher levels of IAA compared to non-embryogenic calli, and the degradation rates of IAA were related to these levels. Immunohistochemical analysis supported these findings, and differential gene expression analysis revealed distinct molecular responses between embryogenic and non-embryogenic calli.
