Exogenous Application of Zinc Sulphate at Heading Stage of Wheat Improves the Yield and Grain Zinc Biofortification

Ahmad Sher et al.

Summary: Wheat is a leading staple food globally, and zinc deficiency affects one-third of the world population. The study showed that Fakher-e-Bhakkar variety of wheat responded the best to zinc application in terms of growth, yield-related traits, and nutritional quality.

Application of Zinc and Iron-Based Fertilizers Improves the Growth Attributes, Productivity, and Grain Quality of Two Wheat (Triticum aestivum) Cultivars

Muhammad Bilal Hafeez et al.

Summary: Field-based experiments were conducted to minimize the impact of hidden hunger through agronomic biofortification of two wheat cultivars with zinc and iron. The study showed that the combined application of zinc and iron improved growth attributes, productivity, and quality of wheat, resulting in grains with higher zinc, iron, calcium, and starch contents, as well as lower gluten concentrations, leading to maximum productivity of bread wheat cultivars.

Effect of Zinc and Magnesium Fertilizers on the Yield and Some Characteristics of Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Seeds in Two Years

Farhad Sadeghi et al.

Summary: This study found that proper application of zinc sulfate and magnesium sulfate can significantly improve wheat yield, with the best performance being achieved by applying 60 kg ha(-1) of zinc and consuming 140 kg ha(-1) of magnesium. The treatments with the best economic aspects were 20 kg ha(-1) of zinc sulfate x 70 kg ha(-1) of magnesium sulfate and 40 kg ha(-1) of zinc x 140 kg ha(-1) of magnesium, showing positive effects on both cost reduction and plant attributes.
