Therapeutic promise of carotenoids as antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents in neurodegenerative disorders

Md. Tanvir Kabir et al.

Summary: Neurodegenerative disorders (NDs) such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease are characterized by oxidative stress (OS) and neuroinflammation. Carotenoids (CTs) have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which can help prevent and treat NDs.

Dietary Antioxidants and Risk of Parkinson's Disease: A Systematic Review and Dose-Response Meta-analysis of Observational Studies

Sepide Talebi et al.

Summary: The aim of this review was to explore the association between dietary antioxidants and the risk of developing Parkinson's disease (PD). The findings suggest that higher intake of vitamin E and anthocyanins is associated with a lower risk of PD, while higher intake of lutein is associated with a higher risk of PD. Furthermore, an increase in vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, and zinc intake is associated with a reduced risk of PD.
