Even in predictable orthographies: Surface dyslexia in Turkish

Selcuk Guven et al.

Summary: We report on developmental surface dyslexia in Turkish, a very transparent orthography, for the first time. Surface dyslexia can be identified even in transparent orthographies once the relevant stimuli and error analyses are used.

Vowel dyslexia in Turkish: A window to the complex structure of the sublexical route

Selcuk Guven et al.

Summary: Developmental vowel dyslexia is a type of dyslexia that selectively affects the reading aloud of vowel letters, with deficits located in vowel processing in the sublexical route rather than in the phonological-output stage or the orthographic-visual-analyzer. This type of dyslexia highlights the importance of detailed error analysis and dyslexia-relevant stimuli in detecting dyslexia in transparent language systems.
