In-situ boron isotope and chemical composition of tourmaline in the Gyirong pegmatite, southern Tibet: Implications for petrogenesis and magma source

Qiuming Pei et al.

Summary: Leucogranitic rocks, including leucogranite-pegmatite systems, are widely distributed in the South Tibetan Himalaya. The spatially associated pegmatites are poorly understood. This study investigates tourmaline from the Gyirong pegmatite and identifies two types of tourmaline (Tur-I & Tur-II), which belong to the alkali group and have magmatic origin. The study suggests that the Gyirong pegmatite was the product of crustal anatexis and the metapelitic rocks within the Greater Himalayan Crystalline Complex were the likely source components.

Elemental and boron isotopic variations in tourmaline in two-mica granite from the Cuona area, Tibet: Insights into the evolution of leucogranitic melt

Guozhi Xie et al.

Summary: This study focused on the in-situ major and trace element and boron isotope compositions of tourmalines from two-mica granites in the Cuona area. The results indicated that tourmalines in the Cuonadong leucogranite crystallized earlier than those in the Cuona leucogranite during magmatic differentiation. The volatile contents of tourmaline were genetically related to incompatible elements, which led to tourmaline zonation and the enrichment of Sr, Zn, and Pb. The B isotopic composition of tourmaline suggested that the granitic magma was dominantly derived from the partial melting of the metasedimentary source rocks, and their B isotope variations were likely due to fluid exsolution during B-rich melt evolution. High rare metal contents in tourmalines indicated great mineralization potential in the two-mica granites of the Cuona area.

Geochemical characteristics and boron isotopes of tourmaline from the Baishaziling tin deposit, Nanling Range: Constraints on magmatic-hydrothermal processes

Zhuang Zhao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the magmatic-fluid evolution and ore-forming processes of the Baishaziling greisen-type tin deposit by conducting detailed petrography and geochemical studies of different types of tourmalines. The results suggest that the mechanism of Sn enrichment and deposition may be related to fluid-rock interaction and fluid mixing.

Source and evolution of the ore-forming fluid of the Cuonadong Sn-W-Be polymetallic deposit (southern Tibet, China): Constraints from scheelite trace element and Sr isotope geochemistry

Zuo-Wen Dai et al.

Summary: The Cuonadong Sn-W-Be polymetallic deposit is a rare-metal deposit with rich mineral resources and various mineralization types. A detailed study of the skarn-hosted scheelite suggests the inheritance of negative Eu anomaly from the Cuonadong Miocene leucogranite and the addition of Eu2+ in the ore-forming fluid during greisenization. The hydrothermal fluid derived from the Cuonadong Miocene leucogranite is responsible for the formation of fluorite and scheelite through water-rock interaction with the marble.

Himalayan leucogranites: A review of geochemical and isotopic characteristics, timing of formation, genesis, and rare metal mineralization

Hua-Wen Cao et al.

Summary: This study reviews the geological and isotopic data of Himalayan Cenozoic granitoids to determine their genesis and understand their relationship with crustal evolution and metallogeny. The leucogranites in the Himalayas are derived from partial melting of the crystalline complex and undergo high degree of differentiation and fractional crystallization. The geochemical and isotopic characteristics of these rocks are significant in understanding the tectonic evolution of the Himalayan region.

Petrogenesis of highly fractionated leucogranite in the Himalayas: The Early Miocene Cuonadong example

Xi Chen et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the highly fractionated strongly peraluminous leucogranites in the Himalayan-Tibetan orogen, particularly the Cuonadong leucogranites, and suggests that they may have originated from metapelites within the High Himalayan Crystalline Sequence. The leucogranites underwent fractional crystallization processes indicating a maturation of continental crust composition during continental orogenesis.

Tourmaline growth and evolution in S-type granites and pegmatites: constraints from textural, chemical and B-isotopic study from the Gangpur Schist Belt granitoids, eastern India

Tuhin Chakraborty

Summary: This study presents a comprehensive dataset of major and trace elements and B-isotope composition in tourmalines from the S-type granite and pegmatite in eastern India. The analysis attempts to determine the source of boron isotopes and describe the magmatic-hydrothermal evolution of the granite-pegmatite system. The tourmalines show low trace-element concentrations, with varying compositions from core to rim, and differences in Zn, Li, Ga, Mn, and Ti concentrations between granites and pegmatites.
