Development and Characterization of Pharmaceutical Systems Containing Rifampicin

Summary: In this study, a multicomponent complex between rifampicin, gamma-cyclodextrin, and arginine was prepared to improve the properties of rifampicin. The results showed that the complexation enhanced the water solubility and dissolution rate of rifampicin, as well as its antibacterial and antileishmanial action, and exhibited suitable stability. This approach could be used for developing pharmaceutical dosage forms of rifampicin with increased antimicrobial activities.

Residual Bacteriome after Chemomechanical Preparation of Root Canals in Primary and Secondary Infections

Summary: This study investigated the bacterial composition of primary and secondary root canal infections before and after chemomechanical treatment. The results showed interindividual variations in the bacterial composition of the root canal biofilms, and no significant difference in the bacterial composition before and after treatment. Some genera seemed to have survived and were part of a residual microbiome.

Effect of Diclofenac and Simvastatin on Bone Defect Healing-An In Vivo Animal Study

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of diclofenac and simvastatin on artificial bone defect healing. The results showed that bone healing without intervention was more stable compared to other groups. Diclofenac had a clear inhibitory effect on bone healing and systemic administration should be avoided. Systemic administration of simvastatin was associated with severe myopathy, while local administration seemed to promote bone healing.
