Integrated physiological, proteomic, and metabolomic analyses of pecan cultivar 'Pawnee' adaptation to salt stress

Yun Jiao et al.

Summary: The pecan is a salt-alkali-tolerant plant with high economic value. This study explored the molecular mechanisms behind the pecan's salt stress tolerance using various methods and identified key genes and metabolic pathways. The findings provide an important preliminary foundation for improving the salt tolerance of pecans.

Changes in nutrient concentration and oxidative metabolism in pecan leaflets at different doses of zinc

Martha L. Balandran-Valladares et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of different doses of zinc application on nutrient concentration and oxidative metabolism in pecan leaflets. Proper amount of Zn2+ increased chlorophyll content and leaflet area, while 50 μmol Zn2+ treatment increased SOD activity and GP production but decreased CAT activity.

Four chromosome scale genomes and a pan-genome annotation to accelerate pecan tree breeding

John T. Lovell et al.

Summary: Researchers assembled diploid genomes of four outbred pecan genotypes, identified interspecific introgressions through comparative genomics analyses, and mapped QTLs associated with pest resistance. By leveraging pan-genome presence-absence and functional annotation database, candidate genes related to pest resistance were identified.
