Development and validation of IHS4-55, an IHS4 dichotomous outcome to assess treatment effect for hidradenitis suppurativa

Thrasivoulos Tzellos et al.

Summary: A dichotomous outcome based on IHS4 was developed and validated for use in clinical trial settings and day-to-day clinical practice. The outcome performed similarly to HiSCR and showed significant associations with reductions in lesion counts.

Development and initial validation of the HS-IGA: a novel hidradenitis suppurativa-specific investigator global assessment for use in interventional trials

Amit Garg et al.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a new evaluation tool for HS called HS-IGA and validate its psychometric properties. By using multivariate models and classification regression trees, lesion type and body region were identified as important variables. The validation results showed that HS-IGA has moderate-to-strong psychometric properties and is simple to calculate.

New treatments and new assessment instruments for Hidradenitis suppurativa

Kelsey R. van Straalen et al.

Summary: Research interest in Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) has grown rapidly, and several new scores and tools are being developed to address the limitations of current assessment methods. These new measures have the potential to become the primary outcome measures in HS clinical trials and practice.

Hidradenitis Suppurativa Area and Severity Index Revised (HASI-R): psychometric property assessment

N. Goldfarb et al.

Summary: Results from the clinometric assessment of the HASI-R are promising, with moderate inter-rater reliability and high intra-rater reliability, good construct validity, and known-groups validity. The HASI-R was also the most preferred tool by all raters.

The efficacy and tolerability of tetracyclines and clindamycin plus rifampicin for the treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa: Results of a prospective European cohort study

Kelsey R. van Straalen et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated significant efficacy of both oral tetracycline treatment and clindamycin plus rifampicin combination therapy for patients with hidradenitis suppurativa after 12 weeks. There were no significant differences in efficacy between the two treatments, regardless of disease severity.

Comparison of clinical and sonographic scores in hidradenitis suppurativa and proposal of a novel ultrasound scoring system

Gianluca Nazzaro et al.

Summary: The study showed significant disagreement between clinical and ultrasonography scores in assessing Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) patients. Ultrasonography was able to detect HS lesions, such as fistulae, that were not clinically evident, suggesting a higher sensitivity of ultrasonography compared to clinics in HS.

Medical infrared thermography as hidradenitis suppurativa diagnostic tool: literature review

Erikas Mazeika et al.

Summary: MIT is an effective tool for evaluating skin inflammation in HS, with increased temperature indicating inflammatory areas and the use of MIT to identify margins during surgical treatment. Thermography combined with other imaging tests can provide a more comprehensive assessment of inflammation.
