Infant Dextromethorphan and Dextrorphan Exposure via Breast Milk From Mothers Who Are CYP2D6 Extensive Metabolizers

Sara Shum et al.

Summary: The risk of infant exposure to dextromethorphan (DM) and its active metabolite, dextrorphan (DX), through breast milk has not been evaluated. This study measured the concentrations of DM and DX in breast milk and plasma, finding a positive correlation between their concentrations. The estimated infant doses suggest that infants are only exposed to a minor fraction of the adult dose through breast milk.

Key hepatic metabolic pathways are altered in germ-free mice during pregnancy

Lyrialle W. Han et al.

Summary: Pregnancy and the microbiome have complex interactions that affect host metabolism, particularly in hepatic metabolic processes. Research has shown that the presence or absence of the microbiome can impact specific metabolic pathways in pregnant mice, providing new insights into the role of the microbiome in modulating metabolic processes during pregnancy.
