Performance characteristics, spatial connection and industry prospects for China's energy storage industry based on Chinese listed companies

This study analyzes the role of the energy storage industry in the new energy power industry chain from spatial layout connection characteristics and industry performance. The research result shows that China's energy storage industry has uneven spatial distribution and the southeast coastal areas have higher spatial connection. Although the performance of energy storage sub-industries enterprises has improved, it is still low overall. Based on the research, it recommends balancing the spatial layout, improving efficiency in battery operation sub-industry, enhancing technology efficiency, and promoting overall healthy development.
With the goal of energy storage industry marketization, parallel network layout and industry performance promoting are both related and important for industry commercialization. This study analyzes the role of the energy storage industry in the new energy power industry chain from spatial layout connection characteristics and industry performance based on industry enterprises data during the period from 2017 to 2021. The research result shows that: (1) the spatial distribution of China's energy storage industry is uneven between north to south and east to west, and the spatial connection in the southeast coastal areas is higher than that in other regions. (2) although energy storage sub-industries enterprises' performance have improved year by year, it is still on a low level as a whole. There are also trends of higher scale efficiency than technical efficiency and uneven performance between enterprises in sub-industries. Based on the research, it recommends that balance energy storage industry spatial layout, improve battery operation sub-industry which has overall low efficiency, improving energy storage PCS and system integration industry and operating industry technology efficiency, and improve fire control and temperature control industry technical efficiency to get intensive development and more industry scale for promote the overall healthy development of intensive and highly industry development.
