An electrochemical-thermal coupling model for heat generation analysis of prismatic lithium battery

Honglei Ren et al.

Summary: In this study, an electrochemical thermal coupling model was established to simulate the discharge process of a prismatic lithium battery. The study found that the heat generation distribution in the porous electrodes was non-uniform and the negative electrode played a dominant role in the porous area. Furthermore, the relationship between total heat generation, discharge time, and discharge rate was proposed.

Safety issue on PCM-based battery thermal management: Material thermal stability and system hazard mitigation

Jingwen Weng et al.

Summary: Although lithium-ion batteries are widely used, the thermal safety issues remain a concern. This article focuses on phase-change-material (PCM)-based battery thermal management systems (BTMs) and highlights the importance of meeting prerequisites for heat dissipation and thermal hazard mitigation. It compares the thermo-physical properties of modified PCMs and the structural design of structure-enhanced PCM-based BTMs. Future research directions for system resilience are proposed.

Enhancement of Physical Properties and Corrosion Resistance of Al-Cu-Al2O3/Graphene Nanocomposites by Powder Metallurgy Technique

Omayma A. El-Kady et al.

Summary: In this study, the adhesion of graphene nanosheets to an aluminum matrix was enhanced, resulting in improved electrical and thermal conductivity, coefficient of thermal expansion, and corrosion resistance. The addition of graphene up to 1.5 wt.% showed positive effects, but higher concentrations led to the formation of agglomerations and pores, decreasing the properties of the metal matrix.
