miR-142-3p improves paclitaxel sensitivity in resistant breast cancer by inhibiting autophagy through the GNB2-AKT-mTOR Pathway

Yingxiang Shi et al.

Summary: Breast cancer has surpassed lung cancer as the most common cancer worldwide. Drug resistance has hindered the effectiveness of paclitaxel as a first-line treatment for breast cancer. This study investigated the role of miR-142-3p in paclitaxel resistance by regulating autophagy. The results showed that increasing miR-142-3p expression inhibited the viability and migration of drug-resistant cells, while promoting apoptosis and sensitivity to paclitaxel treatment.

Exosomal microRNAs synergistically trigger stromal fibroblasts in breast cancer

Iolanda Scognamiglio et al.

Summary: Research has shown that exosomes derived from triple-negative breast cancer cells can activate normal fibroblasts and transform them into cancer-associated fibroblasts, thereby promoting tumor invasion. These findings highlight the significant role of breast cancer cells in remodeling the tumor microenvironment and contributing to tumor evolution.

Investigation of BRCAness associated miRNA-gene axes in breast cancer: cell-free miR-182-5p as a potential expression signature of BRCAness

Farzaneh Darbeheshti et al.

Summary: The concept of 'BRCAness' refers to the similarities between sporadic breast cancers and hereditary breast cancers with BRCA1/2 mutations. These tumors have deficiencies in homologous recombination repair (HRR) and may benefit from PARP inhibitors and DNA-damaging chemotherapy. Triple-negative breast cancers (TNBC) are more likely to exhibit BRCAness. Identifying biomarkers related to BRCAness can improve personalized management for TNBC patients.

Dual function miR-205 is positively associated with ER and negatively with five-year survival in breast cancer patients

Nina Petrovic et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the expression of miR-205 in different subtypes of breast cancer and its association with clinical characteristics and prognosis. The results showed that the expression of miR-205 is subtype-specific, with high expression being associated with ER-positive tumors. The expression level of miR-205 may serve as a useful biomarker for predicting TNBC progression.

Prognostic Capability of TNBC 3-Gene Score among Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Subtypes

Jhajaira M. Araujo et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the prognostic capability of a 3-gene score in different subtypes of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). The results showed that the score was able to predict the risk of distant recurrence in the immunomodulatory and mesenchymal stem-like subtypes. Additionally, a low score was associated with a high level of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes.

The role of non-coding RNAs in ABC transporters regulation and their clinical implications of multidrug resistance in cancer

Yu Wang et al.

Summary: Multi-drug resistance in cancer is mainly caused by overexpression of ABC transporters, which can be regulated by dysregulated ncRNAs. Therapeutic strategies targeting ncRNAs to reduce ABC transporter expression have shown potential in reversing drug resistance, although further investigations are needed for clinical applications. CircRNAs, a type of ncRNA, may play a significant role in regulating ABC transporters in chemo-resistant cancers and warrant more attention.

CircCD44 plays oncogenic roles in triple-negative breast cancer by modulating the miR-502-5p/KRAS and IGF2BP2/Myc axes

Jie Li et al.

Summary: A novel circRNA circCD44 is highly expressed in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and promotes TNBC progression by sponging miR-502-5p and interacting with IGF2BP2, leading to enhanced cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and tumorigenesis. CircCD44 may serve as a potential diagnostic and therapeutic marker for TNBC patients.

Hsa-mir-3163 and CCNB1 may be potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for androgen receptor positive triple-negative breast cancer

Pengjun Qiu et al.

Summary: This study identified 390 common DEGs, with 250 up-regulated and 140 down-regulated genes, in AR positive TNBC. 13 hub genes were selected, among which CCNB1 was found to be significantly associated with poor survival in TNBC patients. A potential miRNA-CCNB1 regulatory axis involving hsa-miR-3163 was also constructed as a promising prognostic marker and therapeutic target for AR positive TNBC.

Circular RNA: A potential diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic biomarker for human triple-negative breast cancer

Tian Tian et al.

Summary: TNBC, the most malignant subtype of breast cancer, is characterized by high rates of cell proliferation and poor prognosis. Chemotherapy is the primary therapeutic strategy, but targeted therapies for TNBC are lacking. CircRNAs show potential as biomarkers for TNBC diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment, but further research is needed to understand their functions.

Clinical Identification of Dysregulated Circulating microRNAs and Their Implication in Drug Response in Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) by Target Gene Network and Meta-Analysis

Amal Qattan et al.

Summary: The study identified circulating miRNAs that are significantly differentially expressed in TNBC patients and regulate multiple molecular pathways involved in drug resistance. Upregulated miR-93, miR-210, miR-19a, and miR-19b were associated with poor overall survival outcomes in TNBC patients. Integrated analysis of multidimensional data revealed miRNA-regulated mechanisms of drug resistance and potential targets for combination with chemotherapy in TNBC.

MicroRNA-301a-3p promotes triple-negative breast cancer progression through downregulating MEOX2

Heng Liu et al.

Summary: miR-301a-3p may serve as an oncogenic miRNA in TNBC by regulating MEOX2 expression, promoting cell viability, migration, invasion, and inhibiting apoptosis. The overexpression of miR-301a-3p is associated with upregulation of MEOX2 in TNBC tissues, suggesting it as a potential therapeutic target for TNBC.
