Bistable enhanced passive absorber based on integration of nonlinear energy sink with acoustic black hole beam

Tao Wang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel NES named ABH-BNES, which combines a bistable nonlinear energy sink (BNES) and an acoustic black hole (ABH) beam to improve the vibration mitigation performance for both low and large input energy. The dynamic model is established using the Gaussian Expansion Method and Modal Approach, and the vibration mitigation mechanism is analyzed using the slow invariant flow (SIM) theory and the energy method. The experimental results verify the superiority of the ABH-BNES and the correctness of the theoretical model.

NIPPF versus ANIPPF controller outcomes on semi-direct drive cutting transmission system in a shearer

A. T. El-Sayed et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of nonlinear integral positive position feedback (NIPPF) and adaptive nonlinear integral positive position feedback (ANIPPF) controllers on a shearer's semi-direct drive cutting transmission system. The steady-state amplitude and stability of the nonlinear system under different parameter values are analyzed using analytic and numerical methods. The results show that the ANIPPF controller provides the best system control, effectively suppressing vibration amplitude and chaotic motion.

Time-delayed control of a continuous flexible rotor via the saturation phenomenon

S. Ali Ghasabi et al.

Summary: The paper aims to analyze and control nonlinear vibrations of a continuous spinning shaft by using a nonlinear saturation-based controller. It focuses on the energy transfer and saturation phenomenon near the major critical speed and the presence of 2:1 internal resonance. The effect of detuning parameters on the controller is also studied.

New controller (NPDCVF) outcome of FG cylindrical shell structure

H. S. Bauomy

Summary: This study introduces a new active controller technique, NPDCVF, for improving the performance of FG cylindrical shell structure under joint harmonic and parametric excitations. By comparing three different controller methods, it is found that NPDCVF is the best controller for reducing high vibration amplitudes.

Resonance behavior in coupled Van der Pol harmonic oscillators with controllers and delayed feedback

Ashraf T. EL-Sayed

Summary: The study showed that delay positive position feedback control can reduce the vibration response of double Van der Pol oscillators with external forces, and frequency response curves were obtained using perturbation process. The stability analysis revealed optimum stable ranges, with time delays affecting the stability of the system.

Magneto-electro-elastic modelling and nonlinear vibration analysis of bi-directional functionally graded beams

Ye Tang et al.

Summary: A novel magneto-electro-elastic model of bi-directional functionally graded materials beams is developed to investigate nonlinear dynamics, showing that asymmetric modes induced by 2D FGMs significantly impact nonlinear responses. The influences of material distributions, length-thickness ratio, electric voltage, magnetic potential, and boundary conditions on nonlinear resonant frequency and response amplitude are discussed, highlighting the potential for accurate design of multi-ferroic composite structures through adjustments in material properties.
