Experimental investigation on the performance of RT-44HC-nickel foam-based heat sinks for thermal management of electronic gadgets

Tauseef-ur-Rehman et al.

Summary: Efficient thermal management is crucial for the safe operation of electronic gadgets. This study investigates the thermal performance of a heat sink embedded with phase change material (PCM) using nickel foam and RT-44HC paraffin. Results show that adding PCM reduces the heat sink temperature, with a further decrease as the volume fraction of PCM increases. The composite PCM also exhibits enhanced thermal conductivity and delayed discharging process, while still within safe limits.

Facile method to prepare 1-dodecanol@poly(melamine-paraformaldehyde) phase change energy storage microcapsules via surfactant-free method

Jitendra Singh et al.

Summary: The article discusses the synthesis of 1-dodecanol microcapsules with melamine-paraformaldehyde shell using both Pickering Emulsion with nano-TiO2 and surfactant-free techniques. The research found that microcapsules obtained from both methods showed excellent stability and thermal properties, with the surfactant-free method being more cost-effective and environmentally friendly relative to Pickering emulsion.

Synthesis and characterization of microencapsulated phase change material with phenol-formaldehyde resin shell for thermal energy storage

Chenzhen Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel type of microcapsule for thermal energy storage was fabricated using an n-eicosane core and a phenol-formaldehyde resin shell. The effects of various factors on the thermal properties and morphology of the microcapsules were studied, and the optimal reaction conditions were determined. The synthesized microcapsules showed a spherical shape and a well-defined core-shell structure, and exhibited excellent thermal stability even after 500 thermal cycles.

Encapsulation of inorganic phase change thermal storage materials and its effect on thermophysical properties: A review

Huan Zhang et al.

Summary: This review comprehensively presents recent research advances in encapsulated inorganic phase change materials (PCM), focusing on two widely adopted encapsulation methods: core-shell encapsulated PCM and shape-stabilized PCM. The three main preparation processes for core-shell encapsulation and the porous skeleton materials used in shape-stabilized PCMs are described. The effects of encapsulation on the thermophysical properties of PCMs are discussed.

Summary: MEPCMs have attracted significant attention in TES fields. A novel MEPCM for TES applications was developed by encapsulating eutectic of CA and PA with PVC. The optimal composition, with a shell-core ratio of 1:2, exhibited a melting point of 17.1 degrees C, latent heat of 92.1 J/g, and encapsulation ratio of 57.7%. Microencapsulation improved the thermal stability and starting temperature of the eutectic, showing great potential for TES applications.
