4-E analysis of pyramid solar still augmented with external condenser, evacuated tubes, nanofluid and ultrasonic foggers: A comprehensive study

Swellam W. Sharshir et al.

Summary: The performance of pyramid solar still can be enhanced by using evacuated tubes, external condenser, nanoparticles, and ultrasonic foggers. The modified pyramid solar still showed higher freshwater output, energy efficiency, and exergy efficiency compared to the conventional pyramid solar still. Adding nanoparticles and ultrasonic foggers further increased these efficiencies. The suggested modifications were also found to be effective in terms of cost reduction and environmental impact.

Design procedures for a passive pyramid solar still with an automatic feed water system

Mahmoud Elgendi et al.

Summary: This study presents design procedures for optimizing the performance of a passive solar still by introducing an automatic feed water system. The procedures consider customer needs, specify design targets, propose and compare design alternatives, and choose the best alternative based on a decision matrix. An auxiliary tank is added to maintain a constant water level and control the water depth inside the solar still. The proposed feedwater system improves productivity and convenience for the end-user.
