Molecular detection of Babesia and Theileria from crossbred cattle in Sirajganj and Rangpur districts of Bangladesh

Md Jakir Hossain et al.

Summary: This study confirmed the species of Babesia and Theileria in crossbred cattle from northern Bangladesh using conventional and molecular tools. The results showed that these tick-borne blood parasites were more prevalent in Sirajganj and Rangpur districts and were genetically related to isolates from South Asia. These findings are important for understanding the epidemiology of Babesia and Theileria and improving the diagnosis and control of tick-borne diseases in Bangladesh.

Molecular Investigation of Tick-Borne Haemoparasites Isolated from Indigenous Zebu Cattle in the Tanga Region, Tanzania

Aaron Edmond Ringo et al.

Summary: The occurrence of tick-transmitted pathogens in local breeds of cattle in Tanzania was investigated. The study revealed a high infection rate of the pathogens that cause theileriosis, anaplasmosis, and babesiosis in the sampled cattle. Furthermore, co-infections of multiple pathogens were common among the cattle.

MEGA11 Molecular Evolutionary Genetics Analysis Version 11

Koichiro Tamura et al.

Summary: MEGA software, a mature tool for computational molecular evolution, has been enhanced with new additions for building timetrees of species, pathogens, and gene families using rapid relaxed-clock methods. These additions include methods for estimating divergence times, confidence intervals, and new options for tagging sequences with spatiotemporal sampling information. The enhancements aim to improve user experience, result quality, and the pace of biological discovery.
