One single-center cross-sectional investigation on varicella antibody level of all age groups in Chinese people

Qing-Hong Meng et al.

Summary: Varicella outbreaks are mainly seen in developed regions with high vaccine coverage, and the epidemiology of varicella in China may not fully reflect the reality. A study in Chongqing Youyang County in 2019 found that susceptibility to VZV was higher in children aged <=3 months to 7 years, with natural infection-induced immunity increasing with age. Nearly all adults over 40 had acquired immunity, indicating past infection. These results suggest the need for VarV inclusion in China's national immunization program.
