Plant-Produced Mouse-Specific Zona Pellucida 3 Peptide Induces Immune Responses in Mice

Khadijeh Ghasemian et al.

Summary: Contraceptive vaccines stimulate immune responses to molecules involved in reproduction. This study used a plant expression system to produce glycosylated mZP3 and evaluated its immunogenicity. The results showed that plant-produced mZP3 antigens, especially mZP3-3, exhibited high immunogenicity in mice.

Impacts of House Mice on Sustainable Fodder Storage in Australia

Peter R. Brown et al.

Summary: Mice cause significant economic, social, and environmental damage to rural production systems and communities in Australia, especially during mouse plagues. The impact of mice on hay/fodder storage is not well understood, with a pilot study showing substantial losses and damage. Researchers emphasize the need for further study on effective mouse control options, economic impact assessment, and disease studies to inform management strategies for control.

The status of fertility control for rodents-recent achievements and future directions

Kyra Jacoblinnert et al.

Summary: Managing overabundant rodents at a landscape scale is complex, and fertility control is seen as a potentially more species-specific and humane approach. More research is needed to find effective and environmentally friendly fertility control agents.

Rodent management and cereal production in Asia: Balancing food security and conservation

Grant R. Singleton et al.

Summary: This review discusses recent developments in the biology and management of rodent pests in cereal cropping systems in Asia, focusing on the adoption and success of ecologically-based rodent management. Challenges for the next decade include population modeling, effects of climate change, and interactive effects of cropping intensification. New management approaches such as fertility control and mitigating health risks from zoonotic diseases associated with rodents are also highlighted.

Assessment of crop damage by rodent pests from experimental barley crop fields in Farta District, South Gondar, Ethiopia

Bewketu Takele Wondifraw et al.

Summary: This study conducted in Farta district aimed to identify rodent pest species and estimate the damage caused on barley crops. The research found that crop fields near the forest were more vulnerable than those away from the forest, with the highest crop damage observed at maturity stage.
