Widely Tunable Berry Curvature in the Magnetic Semimetal Cr1+delta Te2

Yuita Fujisawa et al.

Summary: Through systematic investigation of epitaxial Cr1+delta Te2 thin films, it is revealed that this magnetic transition metal dichalcogenide exhibits momentum-space Berry curvature effects conducive to spin-based topological phenomena, and its electron filling can be tuned through doping. Spectroscopic experiments and transport experiments demonstrate the presence of a characteristic semi-metallic band region and the change in the intrinsic component of the anomalous Hall effect, respectively. Density functional theory calculations establish a link between the doping evolution of the band structure and the anomalous Hall effect.

Multiple magnetic phase transitions and critical behavior in single crystal Cr5Te6

Luo-Zhao Zhang et al.

Summary: The chemical vapor transport method was used to grow ferromagnetic Cr5Te6 single crystal in this study. Multiple magnetic phase transitions were discovered, and the critical behavior from ferromagnetism to paramagnetism transition was investigated in detail. The critical parameters and Curie point were determined by theoretical models, and the spin interaction for Cr5Te6 was found to be long-range type with a decay in distance.

Van der Waals Superstructure and Twisting in Self-Intercalated Magnet with Near Room-Temperature Perpendicular Ferromagnetism

Amanda L. Coughlin et al.

Summary: The study examines the self-intercalated structures and vdW superstructures in Cr1+delta Te2 nanoplates, revealing magnetic behaviors distinct from bulk chromium tellurides. The spontaneous formation of twisted vdW superstructures offers insight into the diverse magnetic properties of intercalated vdW magnets and potential building blocks for vdW-based spintronics.

Spin stiffness of chromium-based van der Waals ferromagnets

Zhixue Shu et al.

Summary: Low temperature magnetization of CrI3, CrSiTe3 and CrGeTe3 single crystals was studied. Spin stiffness constant (D) and spin excitation gap (Delta) were extracted based on Bloch's law. Results showed that larger spin stiffness value leads to higher ferromagnetic transition temperature among the studied compounds.

Possible Topological Hall Effect above Room Temperature in Layered Cr1.2Te2 Ferromagnet

Meng Huang et al.

Summary: In this paper, a possible Topological Hall effect (THE) signal with antisymmetric peaks in Cr1.2Te2 has been reported, observable in a wide temperature window up to 320 K. The temperature, thickness, and magnetic field dependences of the THE suggest a potential spin chirality origin associated with spin canting under external magnetic fields, holding promise for practical applications in future chiral spin-based vdW spintronic devices.
