Measuring the distortion of time with relativistic effects in large-scale structure

Daniel Sobral Blanco et al.

Summary: In order to test the theory of gravity, it is necessary to investigate the distortion of space and time caused by matter, as well as how matter moves in a distorted space-time. Current observations have provided constraints on the motion of matter using redshift-space distortions, but only the combined measurement of spatial and temporal distortions through gravitational lensing. This letter introduces a method to measure time distortion independently, which will be possible with upcoming galaxy surveys like the Square Kilometre Array, allowing for an accuracy of 10-30 percent. This measurement will be crucial for testing deviations from the Lambda CDM model in a model-independent manner, particularly for distinguishing between modifications of gravity and dark fifth forces acting on dark matter.

Combining gravitational lensing and gravitational redshift to measure the anisotropic stress with future galaxy surveys

Isaac Tutusaus et al.

Summary: Galaxy surveys are a powerful tool to test the theory of gravity at cosmological scales. In this study, a new approach using the reparametrization of gravitational lensing observable and the relativistic dipole of the correlation function of galaxies is proposed to directly measure the anisotropic stress. The future LSST and SKA projects are considered, and model-independent constraints on the anisotropic stress at the level of about 20% can be achieved.

Dark energy survey year 3 results: High-precision measurement and modeling of galaxy-galaxy lensing

J. Prat et al.

Summary: We present and characterize the galaxy-galaxy lensing signal measured using the first three years of data from the Dark Energy Survey. This study combines weak lensing and galaxy clustering information and uses two lens samples: a magnitude-limited sample and the redMaGiC sample. The results show that our modeling and systematic-error control are accurate at the percent-level statistical precision.

On the importance of lensing for galaxy clustering in photometric and spectroscopic surveys

Goran Jelic-Cizmek et al.

Summary: The study emphasizes the importance of including gravitational lensing in spectroscopic surveys for accurate galaxy number counts. Neglecting lensing can lead to significant shifts in cosmological parameters. The analysis also suggests potential improvements in spectroscopic survey analysis by incorporating cross-correlations between different redshift bins and utilizing complementary information from photometric surveys.

The completed SDSS-IV extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey: a multitracer analysis in Fourier space for measuring the cosmic structure growth and expansion rate

Gong-Bo Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, a joint BAO and RSD analysis was conducted using the eBOSS DR16 LRG and ELG samples, with the detection of RSD signal at approximately 4 sigma confidence level at z = 0.77. The BAO distances and growth rate were simultaneously measured at z = 0.70 and z = 0.845 based on the chained power spectrum, with the significance level of a non-zero Omega(Lambda) raised to around 11 sigma when combined with BAO measurements from other samples.

Measuring anisotropic stress with relativistic effects

Daniel Sobral Blanco et al.

Summary: Large-scale structure surveys aim to test the consistency of general relativity at cosmological scales, while the ΛCDM cosmology uniquely determines the relations between geometry and the universe's content. Directly measuring anisotropic stress is crucial for understanding cosmic structure.

Completed SDSS-IV extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey: Cosmological implications from two decades of spectroscopic surveys at the Apache Point Observatory

Shadab Alam et al.

Summary: Based on the final measurements of clustering using galaxies, quasars, and Ly alpha forests from the SDSS lineage, this study provides comprehensive cosmological implications. The BAO data alone can rule out dark-energy-free models, and when combined with other measurements, significant improvements are made on constraining cosmological parameters within the ΛCDM model. The results indicate that various parameter extensions remain consistent with a ΛCDM model in a combined analysis, showing precision changes of less than 0.6% in key parameters.
